You... Kind of are though... That was the entire gimmick of the Stormblood Jobs; Red Mage is a caster that has a melee combo. Samurai is a melee that has a caster combo... That's how the Job has been since its release in this game, this isn't like Bard suddenly becoming Bow-Mage in Heavensward, the Sen skills have always been casts... If you don't like that you should probably play a different Job, you might as well say "Dragoons shouldn't have Jump" or "Monk shouldn't punch", Samurais gimmick is that it builds up to a caster skill, why is this suddenly an issue when that's how the Job has been since launch?
"why is this suddenly an issue when that's how the Job has been since launch?"
This would be great. The number of times I've had to cut off my cast or took a hit because I didn't want to delay my rotation by more than I already was going to is insane. Currently SAM already feels a little weak due to its pDPS not being much higher than (if not equal to) DRG while having no rDPS (unlike DRG) and having to constantly delay our rotation due to casts is just depressing.
2 things:
First our pDPS is BARELY higher than DRG, and most of the time it is actually equal due to delays caused by AoEs and movement interrupting our casts.
Secondly we had ONE casting ability in SB, we now have an additional that is used immediately after the first, which means we need 4-5 seconds of being able to stand still so we don't interrupt our cast and extend how long it will take before we can line everything up again. You know this, not sure why you think "knowing the fight" somehow addresses the issues a melee range caster faces in AoE and movement heavy fights.
