Gae Bolg Dragoon

OK, I just finished up with the Hydra, need to do Ifrit, Garuda and Titan HM, to get the items needed, but not sure if I need to equip the unfinished Gae Bolg or not. It didn't say so in the quest log, but I know sometimes that doesn't mean anything, so thought I would ask before going in to do those. Thanks in advance...................

I don't believe so. Try it out and see, they're very easy these days.

Also, I will say that the relic questlines are a LOT of work for what you get out of it. You can get an equally powerful weapon with poetics tomestones. There is some lore attached though, and relic weapons have some of the flashiest designs and can be a way to show dedication to a job. So, if those matter to you then by all means go full steam ahead. If not... I'd stop once you get it to ilvl 90 (First stage where it glows, and easy enough to do casually)

do you even have it anymore? i just did that on an alt and I don't remember even having the unfinished version after doing the hydra.

Unless I'm remembering it wrong (which is possible) I'm pretty sure Gerolt has your unfinished relic at that point in the quest, so you couldn't equip it.

I recall people complaining about having to do Titan HM with a halfmade weapon equipped so I feel like you do need them equipped. But I'm old and my memory stinks, so who knows!

I don't think you need to have the weapon equipped - when you do the quest normally say so - but you do need to be on the right job when running the HMs, in your case DRG.
