Your funny, embarassing, mistakes and weaknesses as a new player

We all make mistakes and have a learning curve when starting a new game, especially with MMOs where cooperating with others is essential. As per the title, what funny, clueless things did you do as a new player in FFXIV? Or, what can you do now on auto-pilot that you struggled with as a sprout?

Share your experiences and show new players (and reminder more experienced players) that we've all been there. Such stories can be fun to reminisce over and encourage people new to the game who are wondering if they are alone in making such goofs.

Can't change the top title seen on the forum topics list, but as a returning player and with the new sprout for players like me, there's also all of the funny and embarrassing mistakes that those who have been away for a while are making! Share and get if off your chest

I tried that recently, trying for HQ drops, until I finally noticed that Perception doesn't even show on the NIN character panel.

It took me almost 2 months before I figured out how to put role actions, and general GcD on hotbar...not kidding....try going to dungeon with no rampart or LB as dps = votekick

My iLVL was about 22 until I got the AF gear.

And yes it was a mix of combat, gathering, and crafting gear.

I would Bane before Bio stuck... a lot.

I wasn't aware (for months, maybe a year) that you could teleport to the aether crystals around the towns from the large, main aether crystal. I never bothered to click "Aethernet". I would Return to town, sprint to the nearest crystal, and be on my way.

I did that too! I started back in closed 2.0 beta so everyone was a bit dumb then, but that was my dumbest moment. (In my defense the Aethernet line back that wasn't lined up with the others, it looked like a heading then for the choices under it) it took someone pointing out to me on the forums in a QOL suggestion thread that it was a selectectable option.

There are SCHs and SMNs that *still* do that.

I still do it if I'm really uppity and have trigger fingers. Damn delay with Bio. *shakes fist*

Unrelated to XIV, but in XI, I remember running out to Sarutabaruta as a WHM Tarutaru, whacking things with my pole and running around the mob because I thought that helped me dodge, lmfao.
