If it breaks your immersion then don't do it?
I'm confused. Is one's "immersion" in a fictional world really that important and fragile?

I agree. Don't root your immersion into an mmorpg, of all things, especially if you're so adamant on it. You have very little control of what you're exposed to when other players are involved and developers can change it up on you at a moments whim. Keep it to single player RPGs. And if you can't do that then.. I dunno. You're doing an injustice to yourself willingly by then. We're on this ride together, buddy. Take it easy?
I'm 100% behind Kusakabe. These people who want a total clown party really get on my nerves. You can want crossover stuff, that's fine, but at least let it keep the same flavor. For every person who likes immersion and a cohesive world of final fantasy, there seems to be even more people who want to wear a crash bandicoot outfit, with pizzabox weapon, in oversized timbs, running around with their Hatsune Miku minion before flying off on the back of homer simpson belching flames. And if you don't like that, you're just one of those weird immersion loving people trying to stifle fun.

The irony? Fantasy is defined as....
"The faculty or activity of imagining things, especially things that are impossible or improbable"
This is why FF has crossed medieval, sci-fi, & Far Eastern themes. It impossible to break immersion. A fantasy is limitless, only limited by the imagination.
You talk about immersion...But they literally added Viera from FF12 in to 14 only and ONLY because people wanted it so badly...They didnt even change the name of the race!
Is that immersive? Its immersive that Viera are only in the universe because the investors were shouting at SE to add them?
2.0 Veteran from 2013. Just looking to be helpful. DRK is Love, DRK is life.
(Ignore the levels on my character card, the tool i used to make it hasn't been updated for 4.0)
FYI Viera were originally gonna be added back in HW. The reason they Wernt was because they wanted to make a new original race instead. You talk about immersion...But they literally added Viera from FF12 in to 14 only and ONLY because people wanted it so badly...They didnt even change the name of the race!

They were added in ShB because it might be the last time they could develop a race for the game...and the Viera were requested for years.
Where does everyone get this "The Investors made them do it" crap from? Like the developers and director can't make their own decisions
Honestly? They probably can't, at least not all of them. They have bosses, and their bosses have bosses, etc. They tend to make moves that are profitable (or potentially profitable to the point that the risk is worth the reward) more often than not.
It's free rewards and you get a little story to go with it. What's there to complain about? I'd charge you $15 bucks just for that responseThis might be an unpopular opinion, but I personally don't like crossover events with long lasting rewards that don't quite fit with the game lore/story line.
It feels like watching a Lord of the Rings movie that is interrupted with X-Men adds, taking you out of the immersion.
I understand some players like crossover events and their rewards, but there should be a line drawn on what's a fitting crossover and what isn't.
Isn't longer a role playing game when you break character and story rules.
