I see where you're coming from... But what about the people who enjoy these events if SE stopped doing them?

I never cared as seeing FFXIV itself has huge scifi elements in it already. It's not just some mideval timeline seeing as it doesn't take place on earth. Just because you have knights doesn't mean robots and mecha cars can't exist. Hell all of the FFs mix the two settings anyway. This just looks like another Final Fantasy to me.
FFXIV isn't strictly a fantasy world. There is technology involved, which means a lot of things can fit with the game's lore/story, including a car mount and a pig costume. So if you want to immerse yourself in that world, just recognize what type of world it is before setting yourself up for disappointment. This might be an unpopular opinion, but I personally don't like crossover events with long lasting rewards that don't quite fit with the game lore/story line.
It feels like watching a Lord of the Rings movie that is interrupted with X-Men adds, taking you out of the immersion.
I understand some players like crossover events and their rewards, but there should be a line drawn on what's a fitting crossover and what isn't.
Isn't longer a role playing game when you break character and story rules.
we dont decide the game lore/story line, Square does. Not every player even cares about the lore/story, they just enjoy playing the game. Those crossovers are for those people and Square decided to try and cater to all different types of players. thats why we have both Rathlos/Yokai/FF15 car and "RP" tags.
I find all Miqo'te to break my immersion.
SE please put them on leashes.

I remember FF on NES has robots and basically a space ship (where you fight Tiamat), which is where you were ported too from the tower in the desert. So I think they set the precedent back then...
The Producer of the game stated that FFXIV is a theme park. I dont know how you can break immersion in a theme park by adding new themes.
This. And besides, immersion varies from person to person. If you're trying to find an original, authentic experience here, this isn't really the right game for that. I can understand people's misgivings with certain cross-overs like Yokai Watch and Monster Hunter, but that's not really going to change unless the devs decide to take a new approach in the future.
If I die, forgive me. I used to be a Dragoon.
