    Crossover events and breaking immersion

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I personally don't like crossover events with long lasting rewards that don't quite fit with the game lore/story line.

It feels like watching a Lord of the Rings movie that is interrupted with X-Men adds, taking you out of the immersion.

I understand some players like crossover events and their rewards, but there should be a line drawn on what's a fitting crossover and what isn't.

Isn't longer a role playing game when you break character and story rules.

    I don't.

I welcome our Immersion Breaking Overlords. Why? It's no super deep reason but I feel it embraces that Fantasy in its name. Besides, for those that want to stick to their immersion they can avoid any and all events. Put in some more effort and you can refrain from running into or playing with other players that shatter your immersion.

Each has been reiterative, though, and each reiteration complete and cohesive in itself. They don't just start a new iteration and leave things shallow as to be filled out be entirely different iterations or franchises as XIV does...

I'm with you there. It's always weird to see the car from Final Fantasy 15 as a mount. Like, why is that the only instance of a car in the game? The Monster Hunter themed dungeon was ok to me. If I didn't know better, I probably would've never guessed.

I'm OK with anything Final Fantasy being crossed over. After all, it's the same franchise. And we have several worlds that potentially could have gone in different directions with tech and advancement.

But I'm opposed to anything else. The MHW fight is well done, but I'd rather it not be in the game since it's...
    1 - Not Final Fantasy
    2 - Not even a SquareEnix property

Except that adding that stuff takes up dev time that could have been spent something like, say, improving the glamour system.

We have flying behemoths, whales, robots, gorillas, Spinning death turtles, flying beds, elephants and a flying carriage propped up by talking fish and a Car is where you draw the line huh? Interesting.

Oh but a giant whale soaring through the air as a mount is perfectly fine?

    It is, actually.

It's not about plausibility, it's about whether this item feels like it belongs in a fantasy story. A flying whale seems more appropriate than a modern-looking car.

Even the more fantastic-looking Garlean devices (two-legged mecha, giant airships) seem more suited to the setting - although their buildings feel out of place to me, as does a lot of the later Allagan stuff like Azys Lla. (I know "ancient advanced civilisation" is a thing, but that doesn't mean I have to like their taste in architecture.)
