    Question about Shelltron/Block

So sorry for such a silly question, but I cannot find my answer anywhere I've looked. How does block work, I know that when I use shelltron (or get a block) it shows 15-19% blocked now, does that mean in essence that Shelltron (for example) is a 15-19% dmg mitigation for 4 ( or later 6) seconds? Or is there more to it than that simple dmg reduction?

That’s pretty much it, hit shelltron and mitigate any incoming dmg by said amount for 4/6 seconds. Each tank has a similar, short duration/ short cool down ability.

The basic idea is that blocking is a % chance (not sure of the exact number off the top of my head) to reduce incoming damage every time you take damage, much like parry (and it's checked before parry chance when calculating damage, so technically speaking PLD has better innate mitigation than other tanks, though the difference isn't that big). How much damage is mitigated depends on the strength of your shield, so better shield = higher % damage blocked. Shelltron guarantees a block for the duration of the effect, so 6s at lvl 80. This basically makes Shelltron the equivalent of WAR's Raw Intuition/Nascent Flash, DRK's The Blackest Night, and GNB's Heart of Stone, in that it's a mitigation tool on a short cooldown (you'll generate enough Oath to use Shelltron about every 23s or so) used to supplement other mitigation cooldowns you have, whether to stretch out your cooldowns during large pulls or to stack with others when dealing with a tankbuster.

New shelltron is great, and the only thing I would say is it that block should be buffed to 20%. At that point it becomes a really great thing to use while right now... 15% feels a bit 'meh'.

Indeed, i've been playing paladin for awhile now and doing lots of fates and random content, and i've noticed shelltron is cool but it is a little bit of "meh" type. It does not proc almost any time what so ever.

Blocking is a scaling mitigation, so minimum is 15% damage reduction at the start of the expansion, as you get better shields it will scale up to a maximum of 25% (formerly 30% but was nerfed along side parry by 5% in ShB). Current i450 King Shield blocks for 20% damage reduction.

Do you have any source that confirms maximum block strength of 25%?

According to this reddit thread maximum block strength is now 20%, minimum (worst shield) 10%.

Even with the highest possible shield in synced content I have yet to see any blocks higher than 20%.

@OP: Seraph522 did a really good explanation of the skill, their post has everything you need to know.
Tho... I haven't tried it on any guaranteed crit hits, might be useless against them...

The current maximum block strength is 20% but it will increase with increasing item level over the course of the expansion and if it works like it did with former expansions, it should reach around 25% at the E12S shield.

I'm getting 20% block strength myself using Goetia tomestone shield. It's like a mini Rampart I can use more often and I love it!

If you checked out The Balance Discord some time ago around ShB launch were patch notes specifically stated that blocking and parry has been nerfed, it was worked out that both mitigation were reduced by 5%. While my omega shield allowed me to block 30% of damage, basic maths land me with 25% damage reduction. As for 10% damage reduction, with exception to possibly deep dungeons and maybe eureka, in every day gameplay, I've not seen block below 15% DR.
