A couple of hours of gathering can earn you close to that 3 million gil. Doesn't take a whole lot of effort in the grand scheme of things.

If you prefer, do a few hours of FATEs in the new areas. You'll earn that gil while leveling up your jobs. It doesn't even have to be what you're trying to do, it's just a bonus.
