    Glamour restrictions should be dropped.

The only exception would be the Artifact outfits for combat Jobs.

Every gear tier we have received so far is usually 3-4 unique sets with minor variations over the jobs. Most commonly it is caster/healer that shear, but often enough it's completely random.

As seen with the latest gear from Eden where DRG/Ranged, Melee/Healer and Nin/Caster.

A list of Tomestone and raid gear role sharing.

Allied seals: Melee and Ranged share, all others unique.
Ironworks: DRG shares with MNK, NIN shares with Ranged
Hellfire: Tank shares with MNK, DRG is unique
Shire: Tank shares with DRG, MNK with NIN
Gordia: DRG and MNK, NIN and Ranged
    Midan: DRG/MNK
Alexandrian: DRG got Tank shoulders but MNK body. Nin shares with caster, ranged with healer.
68 vendor (new and unique to SB): Tank shares with Healer. They recently added a version for caster too.
    Deltascape: Tank/Ranged, DRG/NIN, Caster/Healer
    Sigmascape: Tank/NIN, DRG/Melee, Ranged/Caster/Healer
    Alphascape: Tank/DRG, Ranged/Caster, Melee/Nin/Healer

Not to mention the gear tiers that looks almost the same across all 5 roles such as the Shisui, Nomads and plenty of others as well as Job specific gear that becomes vendor/crafted such as DRG's lvl 50 hussar outfit which got a craftable version for all jobs at 52 and MNK lvl 50 fistfighter which became lvl 52 vendor gear.

Lastly there is the Tomestone/Seal gear that become leveling vendor gear such as the Ala Mihgan sets now found as Zonureskin/Ovim with some of the skins swapped about.

All in all the glamour restrictions are superficial, no one are bothered about a tank running around naked with the snowman hat, and no one will be bothered to see a healer in full plate painted black.

The only exceptions I would make are:

    Weapons.
    Class/Job specific artifact gear.

Beyond that, why not? Yoshi P in an interview made a comment about visual job identity, but outside of weapons and class/job specific artifact gear, we don't really have or need that.

I can get not wanting a paladin to glamour a white mage artifact set.

But what does it matter in terms of general gear?

We have sets like stated above, where set designs are reused for different jobs. How many times have casting and healing gear been palette swaps of the other as one example?

Then we have a plethora of 'level one glam items' that can be used by any job. Like the ala mhigan gown, thavnairian sets, etc. Swimsuits and event outfits etc.

We have many actual gear sets that all follow a common theme. Shisui gear, sky rat gear, etc.

There's really no harm to be done in loosening glamour restrictions in terms of visual identity. The only issue IMO would be if they can make it work with the spaghetti code, it may be that the glamour system is too baked into the jobs assigned to pieces of gear to equip and couldn't easily be separated from that.

Hopefully some day, but unfortunately I have yet to see any interviewer who tries to ask about this to Yoshi-P do so "in the right way" or correct him when he gets hyperbolic about it.

So far he's been asked about this as just a general question and he's responded with not wanting AF to be mixed-up on jobs (understandable) and then not wanting casters to be able to run around with WAR main weapons (understandable, but too extreme). Neither time has he been corrected or specifically asked about role-based equipment (that usually gets recolored and recycled for different roles anyway, sometimes expansions later) rather than job-locked ones.

China has crafting gear lv1 on mog station, and while not job specific, Viera have midlander hempen camise. I'd like to see these restrictions lifted with more than just level increase. Anemos had the crafting top (Anemos Suspenders) and striking gear (Pagos... something.) so I think there's hope.

If we get a Diadem/Eureka again, I'd endure the grind for cross race/cross job glams. Even if I gotta work for it, the option is still there, and that's what I feel matters.

    this discussion again... x_X

this system sort of works better for the devs, for reasons that i particularly don't like but can tolerate.

and i have explained in an identical thread done in the past about this why i don't like this idea of lifting restrictions.

I'm not bothered at all about how people look but I do agree that glamour has an element of prestige to it that is being kept intact with those restrictions.

I can't glamour raid tank armor onto my healer unless I'm playing a tank myself, even though there's nothing stopping me from obtaining the piece of tank gear in question. Restricting the job means only tanks get to show it, and I think that's a reasonable design.

Even if the gear is just a palette swap, it still represents that job role. I'm fine with that kind of exclusivity.

I just really wish they'd give us all sleeve cut off option like casters get. They have both the gloves from PVP and now Ravel.

I’m not sure SE will ever complete this request though. It’s a miracle they even added male bunny outfits.

I do agree, long as its not an Artifact made just for the 1 class, let us mix and match what we want. Would offer a lot more creativity to those who can work the magic.
