A Way To Turn Vocals Off

Shadowbringers has some of the best music in the series and shout out to the composers for a job well done but alot of songs for me personally are outright ruined by obnoxious repetitive singers blaring in the background.

I dont mind instances like the regular battle theme where the vocalist has only 1 part and she doesnt take over the rest of the music.

But places like Greatwood, where I'm just walking around talking to people, I have this annoying lady just spewing nonsense at me. Which is a shame cause the music itself is actually very relaxing.

And fights like Titania, good lord I don't know what's creepier, the psycho delusional fem child throwing plants at me or the hyper squeaky pixies wailing about while I'm trying to put a cap in the crazy ladies skull.

I've seen games where they keep the music itself but flick off the vocalists, and I think an option like that would be wonderful especially for those of us who enjoy instrumental pieces.

I just dont like walking around with some rando singing in my ear its obnoxious. And I know some may say *well turn the music off* uhhh no. This game has so much customization and options, I dont see why this cant be an option too.

Are you talking about NPC's talking over the music, or vocal tracks in the music? If it's the latter then there is no way to turn those off as it's part of the music itself. Otherwise, there is an option to turn down/off NPC talking.

You're basically asking to turn the lyrics off in a music track. It's part of the track. You don't turn that off.

About the only way is to turn down background music. I just noticed yesterday, what sounded like the awful screaming of an opera singer mixed in with the music. Fortunately, it was low enough that it didn't bother me too much.

I mean... you realise that Titania is supposed to be kinda creepy and that the music helps to set that atmosphere...?

While I could maybe see some option that would allow you to either play only day-time or night-time music (which would fix your Rak'Tika problem, since the nighttime-music is a piano-version without vocals), I cant help but find your request and specially the way you worded it mainly disrespectful and... sad. I mean, its fine that you dont like certain pieces of music, but I feel you dont realise that those pieces were most likely composed with a certain vision in mind, to create a special atmosphere for a fight or a place and while I'm usually on board with suggestions that allows people to "ruin" the game for themself and not playing it the way it was intended, I'm having trouble getting behind this one. Maybe I'm biased because I love both the Rak'Tika and Titania theme, specially for the vocals, and think that Soken and every involved musician did an outstanding job there.

Personally I dont see how this option is truely needed *shrug* Sometimes I feel we should have to "put up" with how the devs invisioned their game and the atmosphere they wanted to create in certain parts of it.

In addition to that: I'm pretty sure the songs we hear are already mixed and done, so turning on and off the vocals would require them to put in the song twice - one time with vocals, one time without. It might not be as simple as you think it is, seeing how sound always seems to give them a little headache (considering that we cant switch it freely or how mounts can always only play one theme)

(btw: have you considered to just turn mount music on and walk around with whatever song your mount plays instead of the zone music?)

Oh gawd I can't stand the La Hee! It is rather annoying. The rest of the song is fine, but the La Hee just cuts like a knife and distracts me from what I’m doing for some reason.

Well excuse me for having a fricking opinion. Also yes giving praise to the composers and the Xpac itself along with making a harmless suggestion is the pinnacle of disrespect >_>
