We have that system of the Achievement Certificates (which, in turn, "replaced" the old Veteran program) that is barely updated, if at all. It could be a nice idea to ask for new things there, instead of in the MogStation, for a change.
Also, a friendly reminder for the people that say that the cash shop is not affecting anyone else not deciding to use it. They took away the option to buy some of these items with gil (yes, we could buy past years' items on a vendor once the event returned) in order to sell them there for real money. There's also the fact that the aforementioned Achievement Certificates system gets like a 0.000001% of the care that the MogStation does with its constant updates. Or the inventory issues that "magically" go away if you pay an additional sub (not even P2W games do this, as the additional inventory/bank slots that you pay for there are permanent). Etc.
About SE or the devs "needing" money, or the MogStation's cash coming back to the game, I think that it would be smarter to ask SE to give the devs more money from the subs (which is not a small sum) instead of incentivizing them to keep taking that money to other projects that often fail (see FFXV). I mean, these devs and this game are the ones bringing the money, and we -the FFXIV players- the ones giving them said money for this game. It would only be fair to not make it work under such a strict budget, and making players get less for their money, when they (as in SE) would even be bankrupt and gone without this game's developers and playerbase. If only they did that, we could even see the spaguetti code fixed one day, and a lot of the issues related to that sorted out. Maybe the devs could take some well deserved rest, too. Be a smart consumer, not just for your own interests, but for those of the game/product that you like.
Just my 2 cents. And mostly my opinion, so take it as that.
