I'm really hoping to see the summer stuff from last year or whatever. I hate that I missed them. The sandals, the top, the sunglasses, the booty shorts. I need them. Right now.

Hun the mogstation in no way acts like mobile mtx schemes... bit reaching there...This should be required viewing for anyone looking to defend microtransaction monetization practices because they're "purely optional" and "companies need to make money."

If for some reason you're not able to handle his crass presentation, this will serve as well and still covers the same scummy business practices behind mtx.

Here's the original talk without commentary.

This is what these corporations who exist to make money think of you. You are a psychological problem to solve to extract maximum money from your wallet.
If SE added loot boxes you think people'd here defend it? They handle the store respectfully by not putting 80-95% of all cosmetics in it, unlike eso.

They still add to it more than I would like, but yeah it could definitely be so much worse. ESO's cash shop is ridiculous.

Oh my God yes! ESO's cash shop is horrendous, and makes me never want to play it. The only thing good out of the game is the sub, their sub is a decent value considering with the crafting bag, and access to all DLC w/o purchase. The lootboxes and "limited time cash grabs at ridiculous prices are scary bad. It's all based around buying more and more and more, you can buy the stuff you want out of the lootbox directly by like dismantling or whatever the stuff you got out of it, so the intent is to get you to buy more and more and more and more.

ESO also lets you play the game for free if you want. So them trying to get you to spend a lot in the shop is really not that bad IMO. I do agree that the loot boxes are a joke, but that aside, I think a lot of the packages they offer are not bad deals.Oh my God yes! ESO's cash shop is horrendous, and makes me never want to play it. yeah free to play but you cant do squats if you dont spit real cash in the cash shopdont hide facts to make your wasted points looks better.

Last time I played I had to buy the game, pay for the expansion, pay for the next expansion, and they still nickel and dime with loot box garbage. They put stuff on the cash shop, then they take it away (granted they are up for awhile usually) and lock them in lootboxes or occasionally take them out and make it a high priced "limited deal" or whatever. It's ridiculous. It's false supply and demand, a big scheme.

I see some posters are continuing their established track record of trying to turn everything into some sort of weird moral issue.
The game isn't going to crash and burn due to the presence of optional items. There's a lot of people, myself included, who are more than willing to throw extra money at the game for various reasons.
It's also our money to do with as we please.
