Really enjoyed the non-quest related NPC dialogues.

Throughout ShB it was really enjoyable getting to read the changing dialogues of all the NPCs as events took place. I took the pain of going around talking to each non-quest related NPCs to see what they said about the sky changing/big event that was happening. It really helped to immerse me even more into the story. I'm really glad the team took the time to do that for us. I don't know if they did this in the past expansions but I hope they continue to do this in the future. Getting to know the stories of various characters as situations changed was thrilling.

They hit all the right spots for me in this expansion. My favorite by far from all the previous ones. These tiny tidbits of extra was icing on the top!

I'm glad that I'm not the only person who does this - I have always loved to go talk to non-quest NPC's to see what they have to say. It always adds to the flavor of the area/region/etc to do so, and it's doubly so in Shadowbringers due to the changes that happen in the zones depending on where you are in the story - really fills out the whole atmosphere for me.

Even a lot of the quest dialogues change significantly based on whether you do them before/after you've "cleared" the respective zone.

This and also loved the dialogue you get from talking to the Scions and such btwn quest progression. But yeah, you bet I ran around the Crystarium on chat bubble roundups each time there was a story beat involving it. ^_^

I didn't read all the townspeople's dialogue every time on my main character, but I'm planning to do it on my alt (now that I'm not so desperate to find out what happens next in the MSQ!). I do make sure to talk to all of the Scions and other major characters between quest objectives though.

Back in Heavensward (and spoiler-tagging just to be safe)...
the real potency of Haurchefant's death wasn't its impact on our character, but on going back to Camp Dragonhead and talking to all the people around there that had something to say about it. And then their scripts update after finishing Heavensward and again after Dragonsong, as they start to come to terms with it. Francel has particularly lovely things to say, and I really hope he get some further plot involvement soon.

I would like them to visually indicate a new dialogue is available in certain NPC with a new icon. I always feel that I'm missing a dialogue every time.

Oh wow, I didn't know about that dialogue around Haurchefant in Havensward, at the time I was so focused on completing the story fast that I didn't take that time to interact with any of the NPCs. Hopefully with new game + I'll go back and read everything. Thanks for sharing that!

You can read over most of it from the Garland Tools scripts in the Talk Dialogue tabs:

    A Knight's Calling

Heavensward - interestingly there seems to be a "deleted scene" in the last few lines under the main Dialogue tab, as there's text for Edmont, Aymeric, Artoirel and Emmanellain that follows on from the ceremony during the credits and I was unable to find the characters saying this in-game. I'm guessing they were supposed to be at Fortemps Manor immediately after the credits.

    Litany of Peace

One thing that doesn't turn up in Garland's scripts because it doesn't handle menu dialogue well is Corentiaux, Haurchefant's assistant who gives the "what do you do here?" standard information for Dragonhead... until you try asking him that after the Vault, and the poor guy only gets a sentence or two into it before apologising and saying he can't handle it right now.

Another pretty poignant thing is that...

There's a radiant event with Haurchefant's grave as well. I can't remember if there were earlier variants as it's been years but by the time Shadowbringers was about to drop the moment you got close to the grave Francel would appear and pray over it. Saying "It doesn't get any easier, does it?" or something to that effect before walking away. It's little touches like that that and everything you mentioned that make me love this game all the more.
