    Mailing/giving stuff to your alts?

OK so I know this game limits sending mail to anyone NOT on your friends list and that in order to put someone on your friend's list they have to be online at the time for you to even initiate the request. So that leads me to the question, how do you mail gil or items to other characters on your account on that server?

And before anyone pops off with how you can be all jobs on one character, that wasn't the question or point I was trying to make.

You need to go through another person. They go out of their way to make alts an inconvenience to push people to stick with one character unless absolutely necessarily.

Make your own FC and use linkshells for grouping. Pass things through the FC chest. All the stuff you get in SWTOR for managing multiple characters is the stuff you get here for FCs.

I'm not sure why SE never really accommodated alt makers. The all on one character thing is nice, but there's nothing about the idea that is mutually exclusive from people playing more than one character.

I believe this was their... convulted way to make things a bit of a hindrance to bots.

Like everything I know of that tries to slow down bots... it ends up being a massive pain to players too.

    1. FC and transfer stuff via FC Chest
    2. pester your friends to transfer stuff
    3. put it on the MB, log on your alt and buy it. You can either put it for a price that's slightly above average so others don't snatch it away but there's always tax loss or you put it up for 1gil, have no tax loss but need to be really fast so nobody snatches it away. Best to do the latter late at night when few people are online.

That's pretty much the only options you have and all three are a pain in the butt.
If you want to join a FC with your main but not your alt, option 1 is out of question and you likely won't always have friends available for transer.

I'm in a Free Company with my partner, and we share the company chest to use for storage and passing things to alts. Also, if we're low on gil we can transfer gil to each other via the company chest. It's not an ideal situation if you want to do a lot of grouping, or you don't want to leave your current FC. I actually prefer being in my own FC with my partner as I've been let down by other FC's in the past. I do all my grouping through df or party finder and so far haven't had an issue in completing content. Though I'm more of a story driven player than a raider so it works out well for me

If armor. You could buy a manequin put it on your apartment and place the items on it. Then put those items for sale.
Of course you need to open your apartment/house to strangers for that day. And someone could technically buy it before you login. (they must be psychics if they do so).
But you do not need to pay the tax and you could sell them all for 1 gil to your alt.

    Otherwise:
    - company chest.
    - pester a friend.
    or
    - Sell at a higher than average price.
    If gil.
    - Have your alt sell something at a ridiculous price no one will buy and just give them the Gil that way. Of course you will lose the tax. Unless your alt has an apartment. Then just put some crappy armor for a ridiculous price on a manequin. You buy the item at the ridiculous price. And the alt gets the gil. I suspect that what happens when you see a 10,000,000 materia on the market.

I mean armor wise, buy an apartment and get some mannequins. you can sell it to your alt just make sure to mark the box for make as a set so it doesn't pop on the market board. I suggest getting one in the starter city of your alt. makes life easier.
    Ask a friend to help
Do your own fc for the chest.
ask your fc if tis ok to transfer stuff to an alt and go from there.
last but not least MB things. of course, do a few quests get some allagan tinpieces and sell them at a mark up lol.

All the workarounds here really just showcase how futile it is to keep players unable to move items between alts. Botters and rmt sellers are entirely unaffected by this "limitation" that regular players can also overcome. The difference is regular players need to annoy a third party with trades if the alt can't be in the same fc for whatever reason

as for the "its more inventory space" argument; you can still abuse the fc chest with a throwaway alt, so it really does nothing against that.
