I don't miss the game that single handlely almost killed Final Fantasy completely. Hell The movie couldn't do THAT. - Yes the movie techinally did which is why we have Enix instead of Soft but you get the point.-

Honestly I liked the Black Shroud too but only as a concept. It would've been more well-received if it had more diversity than just a copy-pasted maze.I rather liked Black Shroud, especially once you got to the higher levels. Coerthas was my favorite, though, by a long shot. I'd probably take 1.0 Coerthas's general design philosophy and its use of liminal space over many of the more recent zones' designs, to be honest.
Coerthas though...it's still one of the best zones they've made. It felt like a realistic mountainous region. I don't think anything in the game right now compares to it.
Paper Mario: TTYD doesn't have a slow combat system. I LOVE TTYD, it's one of my favourite games, but it's about as strategic as a barebones basic double Pokemon battle.
How it basically goes in TTYD:
Leveled up? Increase BP.
Want HP? You don't need more than 5, so you'll actually decrease your max later.
Want FP? Lmao.
Now, have a damage increase badge? Equip it.
Need BP? Level up.
Does the badge lower defense or something else? Doesn't matter because everything is going to die before they can hit you anyway.
Is the Badge for Mario? Equip it. Is it for your partners? Check if you have damage increase for Mario.
No Mario damage increase badges? Equip the partner one.
Also, equip the anti-spikes badge because Jumps > Hammer 100% of the time after 1 damage increase.
Use any companion because they are a wall for your 5hp Mario that one shots basically everything and 2 turns every boss.
I never played 1.0 but if what happened was any indication of its quality then I don't think any of us actually want it back.

Level 80: SAM | SCH | PLD | DNC
Leveling: AST | WAR | MCH
To quote Yoshi-P when someone recently asked him if they were going to allow people to experience 1.0 gameplay through specific servers.
"Nightmare"
I do sorta wish there was a legacy server just because I'd like to play 1.0 for its story and see characters and plots first hand from pre 2.0. But I don't think that's really feasible for them to do especially with as poorly received as 1.0 was at the time.
The reason we're not likely to see an HD texture pack is because that's a loooooot of work that could be spent on doing something else.
So 2.0 areas?
This would be unfun as hell. Not even DNC spends that long to get a 1,750 potency attack... not even SAM with Tsubame-gaeshi.
Oops, misread your post, sorry. xD
♥ Baby, tell me, what's your motive? ♥
Me too, but we will never go back.
Black Shroud wasn't all that copy-pasted once you get past the level 35 areas. Nine Ivies, Turning Leaf, and Sorrel were quite distinct, and the less distinct NW area was still better to me than the forest portions of North Shroud that replaced it, by far. I was used to an emerald labyrinth. I got dusty generic woods that I could just hike a half-mile to see whenever.Honestly I liked the Black Shroud too but only as a concept. What we need is a FF XI Remake without PlayOnline and maybe some Benefit in FF XIV when you play it and vice versa. It could run on the same servers as FF XIV does and let people the choice to play either. If you, for example, reach a certain Achievement or Level, you get an Item in your Mail in FF XIV that gives you an xp Boost for the class you just maxed out in FF XI.
Why? Because FF XI was super fun. It was completely different, it was way harder, way more time consuming - But it had charme. the combat was less "WoW-ish" but more turn based - Like FF12 Offline. Come to think of it, just talking about it makes me wanna get my old FF XI Account out again and giving my Samurai another ride ... Wonder if I can actually figure that account out with the horrible PlayOnline.
