With proper asset allocation, it wouldn't look copy and paste.
Additionally, it would be awesome if after a xenoglossy my character would enter a state of aetheric meditation (60 seconds of no movement), channeling a 2k potency ST spell while everyone around me frenzies to keep my spell from being disrupted.

Aside from being pretty barren, copy-pasted and having too many invisible walls, I thought how they handled the open world zones was alright. It was actually relevant because battle leves and behests (now guildhests and instanced) were a viable option for leveling. It was seamless, had open world dungeons although not much in them, had a good variety of layers to the zone design (main part, elevated/upper, underground/lower etc) and there was some difficulty in it since monster levels were varied and can reach past our level cap than set to a certain range like it is now.I think there needs to be an ultimate list of everything 1.0 did better than 2.0 and beyond that way we can reference it when whining about things they should add.
I'll start... Better texture graphics. They don't have to be 8k but holy crap can they at least be bumped up to HD.
The monsters were coded better, too. Some monsters are cowards, some would attack you if you're in their bubble for too long, some would even follow you out of curiosity.
For all of the criticism 1.0 receives it really was a masterpiece. The only thing XIV has on it is the trust system (and that's being generous).Aside from being pretty barren, copy-pasted and having too many invisible walls, I thought how they handled the open world zones was alright. I...wouldn't go that far.
Man this is a troll thread.
Ok, if it was a masterpiece, why did it fail so miserably. It was a big part of the reason square reduce their earnings estimate by 90% 90% the year it released.
That's pretty far from masterpiece if you ask me. What did you even enjoy about it? When 1.0 released you had 2 methods of leveling up. Killing overworld mobs and behests (basically 1.0's fates), and levequests. There was a limit on the levequests, so overworld mobs was a lot of it. I would know, i killed thousands upon thousands of coblyns and doblyns to level LNC to 50.
There was no end game. There was literally nothing to do at max level. There were no NM's, no Primals, no dungeons, no bosses. There were a few levequests that had special mobs, but nothing to keep you engaged.
I'm seriously wondering what you remember of 1.0.

1.0 was designed to make the journey itself the endgame. The endgame began as soon as you started playing.
You didn't answer my question though. What did you enjoy? What makes 1.0 better than the current version? None of what I said was hyperbole. I was there and played it. My character has the Nael achievement from the end of 1.0.
What did you do?
Its hard for there to be an endgame when there's no journey. 1.0 had less content than most patches xiv gets nowadays.
Also, if you liked 1.0 so much, wheres your legacy chocobo?
