Someone using 1.0 and masterpiece in the same sentence. Wow. Are we thinking of the same game here? I never played 1.0—I didn’t have a PC to even support it at the time—but I’ve heard from all the 1.0 veterans I know that it was anything but a masterpiece. “Hot mess” is usually how they refer to it, even if some of them have things they liked from it (e.g., animations, some of the zone designs, some of the content present, etc.).
I guess if you want to refer to a game that cost SE a crapload of money and hurt their profits by a 90% estimate a “masterpiece”, have at it. I’d wager to say that they disagree, though; and that’s why they dropped a red moon carrying Bahamut on top of it.
You’d want a lot higher than 2,000 potency to make up for the amount of GCDs you’d be losing during your full minute of standing around.

I...wouldn't go that far.

Man this is a troll thread.

Never played 1.0 but from what I've seen, I really liked the animations in general. Things like running and your character stopping with adequate momentum. Shifting your weight as you're about to make a turn. That kind of thing. Everything else can burn... which it did, technically.

If they continued with that animation our current battle system would not work as timing is everything in a fight.

I think the only thing that I miss from 1.0 is the graphics and Miqo butts. The rest is good riddance.
