What we need is a FF XI Remake without PlayOnline and maybe some Benefit in FF XIV when you play it and vice versa. It could run on the same servers as FF XIV does and let people the choice to play either. If you, for example, reach a certain Achievement or Level, you get an Item in your Mail in FF XIV that gives you an xp Boost for the class you just maxed out in FF XI.

Why? Because FF XI was super fun. It was completely different, it was way harder, way more time consuming - But it had charme. the combat was less "WoW-ish" but more turn based - Like FF12 Offline. Come to think of it, just talking about it makes me wanna get my old FF XI Account out again and giving my Samurai another ride ... Wonder if I can actually figure that account out with the horrible PlayOnline.

They finally got around to killing PlayOnline a little while ago.

XIV was also originally intended to be a next-gen remake of XI, complete with porting characters with progress intact, but there's also a reason Tanaka lost his job.
