....wow. Suppose none of you cried when "why in main scenario i'm mr: no-one and my companion is the main protagonist" kinda topics existed
(they existed for true)

Yes and I am the only one to vanquish Ifrit and those evil Moogles! Get real its a game, you aren't unique and neither is anyone else. This isn't a game issue worth quitting over like some of you state, just relax and breathe.
I don't care about the story either way to be honest. I usually just speed through the text window. I just like the gameplay and chilling with other casual players. To me online final fantasty games are for just having fun fighting whatever and hanging out with "real" people, and offline FFs are more about story, at least that's the way I feel about it. Then again I feel FFT had the best story out of any of them to date, but then again I aslo hated 13.
i am the only azure dragoon... i will save you all just craft me stuff lol
in a serious note i find the quest lore to be good, how many people asked to be more important in the main story, like i dont want to be just standing there seeing how npc heroes do all the awesome job in the CS, i think this is the reply from SE, before this we were lesser than maggots u could see that from the r46, sorry lvl 46 mission where you were saved and dumped on the side while this "heroes" fought the garlean commander in an awesome way, you had all that bad ass gear and ubber weapons and u were nothing at the same time.
So i find better be the ONLY AZURE DRAGOON than being just a regular and non important adventurer...think about it
I got through the first line and laughed. This bothers me a lot, enough to make me seriously consider quitting.
I know that must sound melodramatic, but what I care about most in these games is the believability of the setting. Now, not only are there quests that contradict the visible evidence - 'you're the only one that can do X-OH WAIT YOU'RE SURROUNDED BY PEOPLE WHO OBVIOUSLY ALREADY DID' - but worse, as a roleplayer I have to deal with the fact that the quests have to have never happened. Normally that isn't a bother - we've all been doing so with the main scenario for a while - but the lore behind the Job equipment means that there has to be an alternate explanation if it's to be worn in-character. Fine by me since I probably won't do that, but things get messy when the people I play with start forcing me to choose between playing with them, accepting their reasoning, or having my character treat them as if they're nuts.
Worst of all however is the precedent this decision to abandon believability apparently sets. Will all primary story content, henceforth, be telling me how unique and special my character is whilst surrounding me on screen at the same time, with a cluster of people bearing visible evidence that they already did, achieved, and acquired these supposedly unique and special things, thus highlighting the lie? Is there never again going to be anything that will help me believe my character is a part of the world, and that the game world, the people in it, and other people's characters, are not irrelevant beside my own?
Not only is that depressing in and of itself, it also hammers home the fact that nothing unique or special like that will ever exist - a common issue in MMORPG's, sure, but one that the writers' job is to avert our attention from, not direct it toward.
lol this thread
sums it up nicely.

All of the class quests that I have done so far feel like they were written for a single-player RPG. What happened, writing team?? I wrote in on the player poll that I hope they correct this for future storylines and quests, because I agree with the OP: it breaks immersion in the game and feels ridiculous.
I think it was more excusable for MMOs that were designed 10 years ago, when it was a newer thing. Now? In 2012? No. No excuse. Quests for an MMO should be written with the mindset that these stories will be done in groups, and with thousands of players playing each job.
The whole lore behind the making of dragoon makes no sense.
First..for some reason AZURE dragoons come from a legendary sword swallowing dragon from ragnarok that is BLACK in color.
Second, ignoring the azure dragoons...it seems that random dragons give their souls to soldiers in roder to turn them into dragoon because....why not! aka, to fight dragons...so random dragons give souls to humans to fight dragons for no reason. Sweet...but thats not where it ends!
The sole purpose of Ishgard is to kill dragons, now...dragons are their source of dragoons...if ishgard kills all dragons there would be no new dragoons and ishgard would become the weakest of all cities against the Empire.
yes...the lore for ishgard army and dragoon making is useless.
I guess you don't understand each player play the storyline so at the end it's just a offline storyline with online play that how i see ffxi and ffxiv.

Way to post the same post in more than one thread...lol....
The more I think about this post the more it makes me think of Highlander, THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE!!! And then that oh so catchy jingle starts playing in my head.
