Stupid is assuming that I forgot about the 3 quests for the only 3 egis we have to summon. With the removal of egis, there will obviously need to be revisions made to the quests, but that's the price they'll have to pay for their shoddy work.Er, you've seriously forgotten every quest where we go out and bend a primal to our will? Where we have to have fought them to begin with to be able to summon them again to be able to manipulate them? As in...nearly every ARR quest, and then in taming Bahamuts power to use Dreadwyrm trance, and then learning the Allagan secrets to summon Demi-Bahamut? And thats not even going into the Carbuncle quests early on in Arcanist.
You're being purposefully obtuse and not only does it not add anything to...any sort of conversation that might be had, it also makes you look stupid. Knock it off.
That's both, unfair and old.
Especially since "Demi-Primals" exist.
Speaking of which, you couldn't summon Bahamut nor Phoenix in FF11, so...(lol)
Egi glamours exist (which will be expanded upon in the future).
Also, and potential-wise, Sephirot-Egi says hi.

Kind of hypocritical, considering that your earlier argument against them was referencing a quest where we couldn't summon any further ones.
As for me, I'm of the opinion that they need to stay (just with a lot of fixes/adjustments).
Bahamut and Phoenix feel like proper summons.
The egis as they exist now feel more like stances that change 3 of your abilities. Garuda is the AoE stance, Ifrit is the single target stance, and Titan is the stance you never use. At least until you get to raids and extreme trials then it's pretty much only Ifrit.
I wouldn't really want to see them go, but I'm not sure how they could really be fixed to feel more important.
Hello, literal new player here... kinda forced to boost a toon just to effing post on threads is annoying.
Anyhow, I just started playing a couple of weeks ago on and off and chose arcanist/summoner as my starter job. As a newcomer to the game and just starting as an arcanist, I was greatly annoyed when I got to lvl 15 and failed the quest that required your Topaz Carbuncle to get aggro/enmity a few times until I passed it by sheer dint of being pigheaded and wasting whatever health pots I had at the time. In fact, I had to double time as a healer since the "healer" in that quest was the first thing the mobs will rush aside from you - something that the Topaz Carbuncle was SUPPOSED to do and grab aggro off of since one of the npcs in that dungeon practically tells you to send your Topaz Carbuncle in first to gather the mobs. I thought it was a bug at first and it took me a while before anybody in chat would tell me that pet aggro is gone with the "recent patch" in 5.0.
Don't get me wrong, I understand pets in dungeons should get ZERO enmity generation - but I wish we still had that option as a toggle ability on tanking pets. I even watched a few videos where some people used tanking pets as CC in some fights - which is why I choose Arcanist as my starter job because it looked fun! I haven't gotten to the higher levels yet, but it's a damn slog to get there (until I was forced to boost it to be able to flipping post on forums) - the fact that the first summon you get is an AOE pet that practically brings a whole host of mobs right to your face kills you quicker in lower levels - especially in some fates where you're fighting a mob that strays too close to other mobs and they go after you for the ride that your AOE pet draws to you with its abilities. Why have a pet class when a tanking pet - or any pet - is basically a free damage stick support with piddling dps outside of Bahamut? It removes the reason why it's a pet class in the first place. So in a way, I kind of agree with the original poster that they might as well get rid of the pets and turn that sucker into a DoT mage that summons the big guns for a short time only and stick to DoTs and drains for dps like an actual Warlock class ala WoW. There really is no reason now for a pet when you get 100 percent of the aggro regardless of "egi" on the field - no more options to make the class stand out as a unique class, much less a PET-using class. I am sure that some of the newer changes to arcanist/summoners are nice, but I got so disappointed that when I could, I switched to Archer/Bard instead - and while I had to skip everything for the boost, it makes me wonder if there were other quests for arcanist/summoners prior to lvl 70 that has you using your pets for what they were originally designed for (and if they are now broken like that lvl 15 arcanist class quest).
