    Azure Lore, introduction for BLU

It's inevitable at this point that will make it's appearance in FFxiv so I thought I'd make an introduction for the Azure Lore, that is the lore of Blue Mages. If you have your own suggestion for introduction of the Job class be sure to share it here, or to share any other thoughts on it. So without further ado:

Blue Mage, Fell Mage, Primal Mage; there are as many names for these nomadic mages as there are gods for the people of the world. They are instantly recognizable by their blue vestments and their curved blades. Historically, Blue Mages have been feared and regarded with suspicion for their worship of the primals, primarily Atomos, from which they have learned their distinctive fell magic.

Typically the city-states of Eorzea have learned to cope with their presence and come to a grudging respect for the independent mages, coming into conflict with them only on rare occasions due to the Blue Mages nomadic and reclusive nature.

Until recently that is. The Blue Mages have been targeted for extermination in the recent increase of the Garlean empire's aggression, ostentatiously for heretical practices. While it's true that worship of any god other than the state sponsored deity is banned under threat of reeducation or death, the truth of their sudden interest in the Blue Mages has more to do with the threat that the Garleans discovered them to be during their initial encounter.

A few years ago a group of Blue Mages went to bare witness to the Primal Migarsomr, which had destroyed a Garlean fleet of warships. There they discovered, to their horror, that (like the Primals) their magitek that they were so proud of was mostly ineffectual on the Blue Mages. It took an entire legion of mechanized cavalry units to subdue the six grand masters of Blue Magic.

With their freedom now in jeopardy, the Blue Mages have aligned themselves with the city-states of Eorzea both in order to protect themselves and to seek out those with the fortitude, will power, strength, and determination to harness their fell magics.

I do agree that they should implement NIN as well. Here's hoping that they'll have an actual identity of their own this time around (other than "the loltank"). But this is about BLU, thanks.

Are you talking about the huge sky serpent in the opening movie like I am?

Bears a striking resemblance doesn't it? You sure we're talking about the same creature?

I liked the Arabic feel of ffxis blue and I'd kinda like to see that feel return. I think the blue mages should make a return as the high guard of the Ul'dah Sultin. Like a secret police.

Now lore is not all that interests me because I am a blue Mage freak, and love everything about the current armory and job system coexisten
Blue Mage should make a return basing A). Either basing in the new pet class and using a whip as a main weapon, reminiscent of Quistis. The pet class should only have good petcontrol (full control is the purpose of a beastmaster.
Now, a monsterfarm is going to be needed for this next idea.. Capturing monsters allows you to get items from the monster regularly, like gathering (oh perfect for a shepherd). When you have a monster as a blue Mage, it allows you to call upon certain skills from the monsters, I'd say up to 3 until the increase the level cap. The blue Mage will have two other skills. A "Combo Affinity" Skill that makes your next blue magic usable in a weaponskill combo for increased effects, and your 15 minute which will be a weaponskill that I'm not sure the effect should be, I've had a couple ideas but I never thought out this build like this before, though I like the name Azure Oblivion, it's a kind of play on the fact that blue mages learn, but oblivion meaning forget. Probably should inflict amnesia or something to actually lock out an ememies skills. (lol im just writing as I go now but sounds so epic)

But yeah I'll post more but I'm on my iPod...

The Wyrm in the opening movie that wraps around the Garlean Airship and brings it down, and whose remains can also be seen in Mor Dhona, is indeed Midgarsormr. Confirmed lore via MNK questline.

Just looked it up, appears Migarsomr (also Jormungundr) is what it is... so are Wyrms considered primals? Anyhow, thanks for the correction, OP changed to reflect it.

BLU has never ever been a pet class. Period. BLU is the class that learn spells by observing monsters, defeating them and (at least in FFxi) devouring their souls and their weapons has always been swords, never whips. You're thinking of Beastmaster (BST)

It's hardly "inevitable at this point."

No? We got gear already in FFxiv that would look right at home on a BLU, a storyline they'd be at home in, and a game engine that would potentially have rawking right off the bat as opposed to five years from inception. Doesn't get much more inevitable than that.
