Manderville is about as canon as all the other side quests and FATEs you choose to complete or not. Did the WoL milk sheep? If you did, yes. It was nice being recognized by Goldbert as the person who hangs with his son when he appears.

Hildibrand was born with a rare reality warping defect, as a result everything around him just ends up being a bit silly.
Even his dad, a relatively normal chap when you meet him on his own, is effected by his sons unique affliction.
That's my view anyway, but in short I'd say they're not real canon, no.
Ah............ well considering that mentions of them show up all through the story I'd say they're canon
and if you've done the lvl 80 SCH quest Godbert is even mentioned XD

Oh, they're real people - no doubt about that. Well, Godbert, anyway; I don't think Hildy or Juli are mentioned outside of Hildebrand quests, so there could be some doubt there.
But can Godbert kill a Chimera with a Goldsmithing hammer? Can he use that hammer to restore a shattered vase to pristine condition? Can he subject his son to milie-high spinning piledriver (and have said son be none the worse for wear afterwards)? That's what this thread's all about.
You'll notice that Godbert is significantly more subdued on the occasions you meet him outside of a Hildebrand quest.
the reason godbert is more subdued when you meet him outside is cause you are meeting him from a business perspective. while in hildy quests you meet him on a personal basis and i do think juli is mentioned in the cooking questline at some point cant rem but i think she was vaguely mentioned.

The Hildibrand Quests are the true MSQ.
