Also, major props to the 2nd part of your post. I'm a FF8 fan, one and only for me and I have to agree 100%... I liked how unique they had the sounds. It captured the idea of the gunblade without it "copying" directly from a source like FF8 or Dissidia. It slashed fluidly and had explosions to emphasize each hit, not as some sorta explosion demolitionist job. Even now, if you sheathe and unsheathe the weapon, THAT is the sound the blade should feel like, light and crisp like it was but still carrying weight of momentum and fluid combinations from strike to strike.

I've also sent in both a bug report and a suggestion regarding GNB's sounds. Mine suggests to keep Lightning Shot, all of our aoe skills, and rough divide as is, but reverting everything else back to the old way with the explosions themselves raised in volume just a bit to match the volume of the slices/slashes.
