    I think they should revert it without any other changes. Developers know what are they doing. They "calculated" how gunblade works in FFXIV, and made perfectly fitting sounds. Gunblade is not a big sword, and it allows for very swift attacks. In original sounds you could hear slicing, pulling the trigger, mechanical sounds of the gunblade, and of course explosions.
    It can't sound like hammer or club. Even DRK sword doesn't feel that heavy. And explosions can't be too loud because it would be irritating very soon.

    I think GNB is a victim of nostalgia. We are not in FFVIII. We are not Squall or any other dude from this game. And keep in mind this game has pretty much over 20 years now, so sound quality was certainly low.
    Developers shouldn't make such drastic changes so fast only because vocal minority had issues. I bet they would stop whining pretty soon and enjoy the perfection of GNB. Perfection which is currently lost.

    Just like how it is now. 3rd day of this and I don't even wanna run content now with it despite it being my main.

    Also, major props to the 2nd part of your post. I'm a FF8 fan, one and only for me and I have to agree 100%... I liked how unique they had the sounds. It captured the idea of the gunblade without it "copying" directly from a source like FF8 or Dissidia. It slashed fluidly and had explosions to emphasize each hit, not as some sorta explosion demolitionist job. Even now, if you sheathe and unsheathe the weapon, THAT is the sound the blade should feel like, light and crisp like it was but still carrying weight of momentum and fluid combinations from strike to strike.

    I've also sent in both a bug report and a suggestion regarding GNB's sounds. Mine suggests to keep Lightning Shot, all of our aoe skills, and rough divide as is, but reverting everything else back to the old way with the explosions themselves raised in volume just a bit to match the volume of the slices/slashes.
