Yoshida posted some information about version 2.0 today.
Enjoy!
Well, this is only a tiny bit, but I will share…
Yesterday we gathered the FFXIV development team, operations team, and other related departments and held a project all-hands meeting.
The main theme was a recap of the current time period, confirmation of future period project goals, and coordinating them with milestones, but we also showed off the 2.0 FFXIV client that is already under QA testing.
This is a crazy large project and since the current version and 2.0 are being developed side-by-side, you would really feel the reality of it if we didn’t show it off. (Even some of the development staff can’t believe that we are almost completely re-making an MMO in about a year and a half. ^^; )
In other words, the 2.0 client has reached that realistic level. Now we are entering the phase where we are switching the maps, adding dungeons, transplanting updated content and adding new, implementing a ton of quests, and seeing how much stuff we can put in with our mass production line.
All that’s left is a battle against time. It will take a little bit more before we have something we can show all of you. I’d really like to show you FFXIV 2.0 as a working game, but in the mean time play out the Seventh Umbral Era events and look forward to it.
The PC specs will be lower than they are currently and we will be releasing the PS3 version.
We are working our hardest to allow for an even greater amount of people to play and enjoy the game, so please cheer us on!

Even I can't Believe it... o.o(Even some of the development staff can’t believe that we are almost completely re-making an MMO in about a year and a half. ^^; )![]()

A few months ago it was said they'll be putting in DX11 a bit after launch, since they don't want to hold back the launch for the sake of only a portion of users. Understandable, I think, and it's how a few games I can think of have handled it recently (Arkham City, Shogun 2 and Dragon Age 2 off the top of my head). I don't recall if there was any announcement about SLI/Crossfire, though.
I'm glad to hear that the PC specs will be lowered, as several friends of mine from FFXI have wanted to try the game but just don't have the rigs to play it, and several more play the game but can't play it properly--even I had to build a new PC before I could play at a tolerable level. I hope it represents more an increase of the range of playability than a simple lowering of specs, which seems to be the goal of the dev team.

I can relate to you here i had to build a decent rig to play as well but the game has come such a long way in such a short time that i am glad i did.2.0 is exciting in so many ways to me and in this hurry up now now now kind of world i am glad that Y P is driving this boat it looks like we shall be in for a real treat when 2.0 finally releases thanks YP and to the whole dev team!!!!!!!!A few months ago it was said they'll be putting in DX11 a bit after launch, since they don't want to hold back the launch for the sake of only a portion of users. Super awesome cheer for the devs and 2.0!!!
Keep it up guys, we love you!
I really hope it supports SLI well this time.![]()
LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
(Marvelous economics IQ test!)
