Auto-cancelling casts if overheal and rearranging the UI on the fly so you don't have to pay attention to anything is playing the game for you. That's what it used to do. Stop trying to be smart with me, you're failing horribly at it.

You don't even need such things in FF14 because you can't heal stupid. If you stand in stuff, you die.

You can "simulate" a healbot addon by making mouse over macros (I did it on SCH), and then set up the UI elements to mimic healbot

Just spam Stone, maintain Aero on bosses and on mob pulls spam Holy. Try to heal as little as possible. And, don't use Cure I.

You don't need to heal as long their hp is above 1

There seems to be some confusion about what "HealBot" is in WoW. It doesn't heal for you, its not actually a 'bot'.

HealBot is an addon that lets you bind your mouse keys to have an effect when clicking on party name plates. So like if you right click on an NPC in the world, it still works normally. But if you right click a nameplate in your raid frames it casts Healing Touch (or whatever spell you bind). Non healers use heal bot for situational buffs too, such as the Paladin class in WoW that has an invulnerability that they can put on a party member.

TBH I would also like this to be an option.

That's because even the WoW devs realized how stupid the addon is. You don't even need an addon for that functionality in WoW at all, a simple macro will suffice.

You can write macros in FF14 too, you know.

It's cute that people still think an addon like HealBot, Vuhdo, Grid etc. plays the game for you.
No, it doesn't. It let's you costumize the UI in ways that the game either doesn't allow with it's base functions or allows you to quickly set keybinds without writing a macro for it. Macros have the benefit of working without the addon being up to date but HealBot and similiar healer UI addons offer far more option than that.
But healing is still done by the person, not the addon.

    Back to topic:
Since you're just about to start healing, you'll go through the leveling phase first anyway. Damage in leveling dungeons, except a few infamous ones, is fairly low and you quickly get the feeling for damage patterns. On trash pulls, the tank usually is the only target that needs healing while on boss fights, it's usually the group that needs more healing.
You don't have back-to-back mechanics on leveling dungeon bosses, so after one mechanic went off that hit the whole party, you have at least several GCDs until you may need to heal. Since party heals are ususually either centered around you or ground target, you don't even need to switch target to use them.
Setting the boss to focus target helps because you can both see the castbar and predict incoming tankbusters (that usually tickle btw) or party-wides and you can assign a hotkey to target the focus target to quickly switch between tank and boss.
Mouseover macros are okay as a crutch but be aware that they don't queue so it will only go off if you use it right as the animation of the previous action finished. Meaning you have to use it until the cast starts before using a skill that does queue, otherwise the latter will take priority and you lose the macro heal.
    E.g.:
Stone -> used macro'd Solace during cast -> pressed Stone right after = 2x Stone instead of Stone -> Solace -> Stone because you used the macro too early.
15 line macros slightly help alleviate the issue but you will nonetheless run into it and have macros not go off because you used them too early and they don't queue.

For party list costumization the options are unfortunately extremely limited. If the myriad of buffs that plop up during burst from some classes confuse you, can either limit of turn off showing buffs. Debuffs will always be displayed first and the dispellable ones will have a glowing white-blue line displayed above the debuff.
But you'll have to practice getting used to it because aside from scaling, placing, sorting and a little bit of buff/ debuff display costumization, there isn't a lot of useful features.

All in all, with how slow, low and easily predictable incoming damage here is, you'll probably get used to it fairly quickly.

So essentially pruning the weak so the strong can flourish. Natural selection at it's finest.

People who don't know the history of such addons should just zip it. The current iteration of the addon is just for people too dumb to write macros.

Just to toss in a quick 2 cents:
    - I used to heal in WoW as well (druid, priest, paladin), and I agree that addons helped a lot in that game
    - I've picked up healing in this game as well (AST so far but I plan to do them all)
    - It was a small jolt not having addons, but admittedly I'm at a point where I don't feel I need them now

Because the general healing gameplay is SO different here in FFXIV from WoW, namely the difference in there being constant rapid-fire shifts in battle and damage, that not having that constant roller coaster has made it so that I don't even feel the need for addons anymore.

I tried macros at one point but even that felt clunky in comparison to simply clicking characters when needed for specific spells. Some other folks mentioned this but at higher levels, most of the big healing events have AOE-based spells to handle and those are a breeze to position and fire off. Plus the UI is SUPER customizable so it's easy to set things up to make clicking an easy, smooth process.

All in all, I'm liking the system here in FFXIV. I'm really enjoying this brand of healing as it has a fun mix of doing small heals, big heals, utility, and dps options (I'm still loving that I have an AOE dps spell!).
