Twice now, well actually I suppose you could say three times now I've left NN, because of the toxicity of the chat. First was in 2017 when I first started playing, then I left and went back to WOW in 2018. Then I came back April of 2019, I don't even think I was in NN a month before leaving.I then asked to rejoin as a lot of the times when I'm online no one else is in the FC, well I got tired of asking questions and receiving no replies because the people in NN were to engrossed in their own ramblings about each other, about drugs, etc...... so I left again. It's sad because sometimes I'd like to ask a question or just talk to someone and no one's there.................

I really do wish they'd assign a GM team to each novice network to keep them on track. I have nothing against mentors but this and a few other Novice Network issues just make me wish it could be a bit better moderated... Or moderated at all.

If people in NN are ignoring questions to just talk, I'd actually consider filing a report on them. The reason to be in NN as a mentor is to answer questions and is the only requirement listed by SE via the game. If they're ignoring their only obligation, well, that and inviting new/returning players, they don't deserve to be there. Failing to fulfill their obligation runs the risk of being stripped of mentor status, as is outlined in the game whenever you rejoin NN as a mentor.

It really depends on the server, but on Cactuar questions pretty much never go unanswered despite the frequent discussions that start.

That's a worthwhile contribution to this thread.

But on topic, I was in the NN a little while when I first became a mentor, but I didn't see a lot of helping going on, just a lot of arguing for dumb reasons, like a mentor rudely telling a new player to look something up instead, and then me getting yelled at by like 8 other rude mentors for saying that's not how you help people. They just treat it like some VIP lounge with poor lowly plebeians hanging around for their entertainment.

I unfortunately have had the same issue, both when i was mentor and then again as a returning player. It's just a gian meme/drama center and really the poor new guys get outright ignored.

I saw to many people with mentor jsut for the crown/NN to bs around. So i took my leave, since my reason for joining it was to genuinely help new/returning players.

I really wish it. Was moderated more, but even though i don't have mentor status anymore I'll still help people figure out content and where to go if they ask me.

It could be, but OP is complaining also about people chatting in there about everything.
Welp this also happen on my server, people talk about everything because there isnt really too many people asking questions.
I still wonder what "toxicity" means, having a laugh is toxicity?
