As many others on this forum, I sadly enough fell victim to the same error quite recently even, starting yesterday after the game patch.

So far what I have tried:
- Clean install of drivers, firmware, windows and the game.
- Running the game in compatiblity mode windows 7 and 8
- MSI Afterburner lowering the clockingspeed.
- A clean reboot with everything disabled.
- Tried different windowed modes (fullscreen and none fullscreen)
- Every bloody single overlay turned off.

I am at a loss like so many others on these forums.



Some background information. Started the game 2 years ago, recently came back before launch. Played through SHB early-access and launch without any problem/hitch till the patch from yesterday. I logged into Eulmore and bam a crash. Hence I went on a search for a fix.
After cleaning out my PC last night, I managed to stay logged in for about 2 hours, thinking it was fixed, I was sadly mistaken and crashed doing a raid with my FC.
However I managed to log back in and continue raiding, throughout the night I had crashes occur during intervals of about an hour or so.
I decided I had enough and just went to bed hoping it would be fine the next morning, sadly enough this wasn't the case and on logging in, I now instantly crash and can't do anything else.

I am open to any other suggestions. (I highly doubt cleaning my pc will help again since it is super clean and wasn't dirty in the 1st place since I clean it every 2-3 months.)

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums. I apologize for the delay in our response.

Have the crashes changed since you posted this? Are you able to log into any character, or does it crash right after logging in?

When you reinstalled the game, did you remove the locally-saved data folder (located My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV)? If not, try moving this out of the 'My Games' folder. Be sure to make a backup of this just in case it doesn't resolve the issue.

Double-check that your anti-virus/firewall has the appropriate exceptions for the install folder and the locally-saved data folder.

Is any part of your PC overclocked? Is any part overheating?
