You're definitely right.. They should be able to just move all currencies into the currency tab.

TL;DR: I hoard currencies too, and do so until I need to spend them on a glamour since each currency can stack as opposed to gear which does not. This could be resolved by a system for collecting glamourable items similar to the one used by SWTOR. Once a piece of gear is bound to you, the item is recorded as collected.
——————————
Glamour is my endgame. Being able to change how Sigrid looks helps to distract from the grind between patches, and makes gameplay feel fresher if for no other reason than the fact she is wearing something new. Glamour is a very fun mini game for me, the constant challenge to collect an entire set, come up with a unique look, or build a cosplay using the limited options in game. I've enjoyed coming up with several hundred outfits over the past few years.
And because of that, my inventory stays maxed out.
The only thing I haven't done yet is create a solo FC for the additional storage slots.
- 10/10 retainers, 1750/1750 slots
- 140~/160 MB slots as storage
- 400/400 glamour dresser
- 138/140 saddlebags
- 32~/35 on each armoury tab except waist
- 441/600 furnishings
I had to downsize the amount of crafting materials I stored on retainers to make more room for glamour items shortly after Stormblood was released. My inventory is close to full again after spending a few hours yesterday managing inventory across my character and most of my retainers, desynthing all but a few of the accessories I had made for glamour purposes now that my armoury is full of gear for leveling.
Do I have a problem? Maybe. Does the game punish me for collecting armor? Yes, especially considering so many of the pieces are unique and not easily acquired. Even for content that can be soloed, RNG drop rates still exist. While some items may reuse models, if and how they dye can vary greatly.
The glamour dresser, especially the recent expansion to 400 slots, is moving in the right direction, but is woefully short of the over 13.5k pieces of gear in the game right now. Should all of those be collectible? Not directly, but it should be more feasible to set up gear as collectibles by registering the 3D model on bind and treating each uniquely colored instance as a skin or palette, ignoring non-dyeable in favor of dyeable (e.g. un-augmented vs augmented tome gear) or reused texture/model combinations (e.g. gloves vs. shortgloves).
For example, the Demon Sarouel of Striking is a Lv50/i120 piece of leg armor that drops from The World of Darkness. The model is shared with the NIN leg armor from the same raid, Demon Sarouel of Scouting, and is also used for the crafted Lv70/i320 and dungeon Lv79/i418 leg armors for PUG/MNK/SAM and NIN. Those 6 items could become a single collectible, with 6 color options to collect.

not going there
So, Squeenix is basically doing the same thing they did last time with the different currencies on raids. Only, it's available in ALL the raids, rather than just specific raids, which is nice. HOWEVER, what I was HOPING they would do was not like it is now.
I actually just wanted 1 currency coins x8 in the raid. This way, everyone gets a drop. Or, if that's a little too straight forward, cut the rewards to 4 coins instead, and just make the coins usable to get what you need. You need 4 coins for pants, 1 for accessories and belts, 2 for head, hands and feet, etc. Keep the weapon coin in there at the last raid though.
Not 50 different types of currencies and 4 instances. They were on the right track, and then derailed lol. xD

Its a halfway choice. They want people wanting precise piece of equipement to potentially have to redo the content once or twice in the week but not too much because it was boring. If it was about doing each once/week then we wouldn't even have to roll for anything and auto-loot a token wich is sure easy but kill the content even faster that it already did.So, Squeenix is basically doing the same thing they did last time with the different currencies on raids. Oh I know, it's just annoying to have so many currencies when they could've at least made it simple with 1.Its a halfway choice. That's basically exactly what I said in my OP.So, Squeenix is basically doing the same thing they did last time with the different currencies on raids. by converting to new currency, I mean completely new. For example, take all 8 sigmascape normal currencies and convert them to a new Sigmascape Token. Do the same for Alphascame and Deltascape.
24 individual currencies go down to 3. Because these currencies don't matter anymore. They're just glamour
Or, I know this might be a crazy thought, SE can stop with all of the reskinning of items and just make one of something and make it dyable. For example, the Demon Sarouel of Striking is a Lv50/i120 piece of leg armor that drops from The World of Darkness. I am curious about the part where you want to convert old raid currencies into the new one. So if someone had enough of the old currency they could get new raid gear without having ever done the raid?
Or, once the raid tier ends, just give us:24 individual currencies go down to 3. Because these currencies don't matter anymore.
Alexandrian Fidgetybit (encompasses all of the alex normal raids)
Alexandrian Datalog (every alex savage)
Omega Membit
Omega datalog
ect.
And since its all just a glam thing (as you still have to clear the relevant fights to unlock older omegas), just give us one normal/savage token for every previous-expansion fight the same way poetics act as tomestones and have Retrofitted Membits and Retrofitted datalogs.
In light of the last Live letter I thought that this was important to bring up:
They tell us (again) that they can't do something due to server load and that server load is caused by players moving around with lots of inventory.Originally Posted by Bayohne

A47:
This is limited by data transfer amounts, so it is currently difficult. Like with adding more housing plots, we have to make sure these additions don’t negatively affect server load in order to maintain a positive gameplay feel. The issue is less about database space, and more about the amount of data each character carries around with them. When the character carries around a large amount of data and teleports all over the place, this increases the amount of data being transferred and increases the server load.
However, this does not mean we won’t be adding more in the future.
SE then proceeds (for years) to purposefully bloat our inventory with currencies.
You're causing your own problems SE.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
