BRD's adjustments defy its lore

So firstly, I do not mind at all that the 70-80 skills for BRD are more archer based. That is fine with me. But it defies the job's actual lore that our songs no longer buff party members. I get that they wanted to ditch synergy jobs, but BRD's entire storyline is about supporting your allies and not using your songs for your own benefit alone.

Isn't that now sort of what we're doing?

BRD is still fun to play (unlike AST, which was gutted even more than BRD) and all, but it feels kind of wrong now. If I want to be a ranged DPS that does nothing but their own DPS, I'd just play MCH (which was genuinely improved in almost every way).*

You know what's the best part? The job quest level 80

Your mentor and your recruits ask you to perform songs that will support and raise your friends up in battle, even mention the place where the strongest song called "Song of Oblivion" is to be the place for your performance .....and then I look at my skill set I'm like....I don't even have one song to buff allies. That Battle Voice doesn't count.

Can't they at least give Determination % on the three song? and add "Song of Oblivion" in place of Foe Requiem and removed Apex Arrow?

Yeah this is sadly Bard's place now. The lore is more of a sidestory that really has very little baring on the actual play of the class.

It's really a massive shame. The first incarnation of BRD was a nice hybrid of support and damage and really felt like how I would imagine a bard to be. The devs apparently didn't like it and decided to just make them a bow mage in Heavensward. That pissed off the playerbase when it came to bards and the amount of bards in the community plummeted so they brought back a little bit of support and got rid of having them rooted in place in Stormblood. Now they apparently didn't like them again and are trying to go back to making them bow mages.

I don't understand why they made them bards in the first place if they didn't like having a support/dps hybrid. Just make them rangers or something instead. Right now there's literally no reason to call them a bard.

I just wish they would pick an identity and stick with it because I'm tired of switching between playing Bard and not playing Bard every expansion.

bard was great during SB, i really hope they will bring the utilities back to the class.
