Patch update size

Playing on ps4, why is the update file 40gb? I don’t remember patches being this large?

The entire game is only 41gb on my hard drive

Anyone else have this ?

1.2G here but doesn’t stop it taking over 29minutes now (and counting) to “copy” the files

I started this process before leaving for work... it was over an hour and I was still at the 15% copied mark.... here's hoping that it's finished by the time 9 hours pass and I get home...

For some reason the PS4 needs an amount of free space on the hard drive wich is equal to the size of the whole game or it will not start the update, regardless how tiny the update actual ist.

This is funny because when they changed the update process from their own system to the standard PS4 updater the game lost half of it's size, but apparently you still have to keep that amount of space free in order to update the game.

That's what I'm thinking.. They probably aren't referring to actual download size but rather the free space required to update. Could be wrong though. Either way #ps4problems

It sounds like your FF14 install might have gotten corrupted so it needed a full redownload

The full game is now about 42GBs on the PS4. I play on the PC and it is a little more, but the patch for 5.01 was 841MBs.

If you are flagged to download more than 1GBs, it has to do with some other files being flagged as needed to redownload. Looks like you have to download the whole game again.
