I think what happened was just that the dungeons were done in speed runs with no cutscenes. That, along with just zooming through mobs to portals sort of removes both dungeons from their original context. Storywise those are penultimate moments in the 2.0 arc. Hours of play have led to those dungeons. New players not being able to see what happens in them when they are actually in them is, well, kinda crummy.
