The battle effects for a lot of DNC attacks are rings though, so it would look strange throwing your non-ring weapon just to have the effect be rings.

Not really, because if you hurl a scissor as a boomerang, you'd inevitably have it spinning, thus forming a circle.

I'd love to have actual bladed fans as a weapon too.
