Voice acting and everything. Tells you the basics of your class and rules of engagement. Doesn't take too long either.
I've seen others go further into even using NPC shout-outs during AI-party dungeons (smart AI) to teach about cooldown usage, pulling strategies, etc., that manage to feel more immersive and exciting in doing so, rather than feeling invasive or condescending. They just felt like running with a group of veteran friends who know not to introduce too much game-specific jargon at a time, and can quickly and easily explain each in their context. It's all the better when you then end up more invested in those NPCs.

Imagine specifically designed Trusts and so forth for MSQ dungeons all throughout leveling, with the dungeons unnerfed (or even strengthened) and mob HP upped a bit at lower levels when in a Trust to compensate for your NPC party being, frankly, more adept and worth learning from than the average player in that level range.

I've done that class tutorial and I can honestly say that even after it was done I didn't understand alot anyway.
I knew the basics and that. But how they are played, not so much. I guess that kind of tutorial isn't for me.
Just hitting a target dummy after an NPC tells you to press X skill didn't really catch on to me.
So I just spend time killing trash mobs in different sizes and pulls out in the world untill I feel I got the mechanics and the combos of the class decently enouth to go on.

Sadly I have to agree, mind, I have used potions...on alts, but yes, a way to introduce players to the roles they are playing at content level and are new should be implemented. Lately I too have noticed an excessive amount of tanks that clearly have no idea that they have more than 1 attack, I've seen warriors use nothing but their cone aoe attack.. and this was in a 77 duty, others haven't even activated their aggro ability (tank stance). C'mon folks, at the very least read about the job/role you're going to be playing so you know what to do.. assuming you even read this (which I doubt). In the meanwhile, its up to us to educate them, if they don't want to listen, then its sadly time to vote-kick that person as I'm not going to spend an hour in a duty explaining to someone how to play their character, thats what the first 50 levels and Hall of the Novice are there for.

After reading everything and looking over everything again.

I honestly just feel like the level jump potions should not include job quests clearance. That sure you can jump the level gap but you must go back and complete all of your job assigned quests.

Honestly - I feel that alone should be sufficient enough to get a person to learn the basics of their class.

    Honestly.

I've made tons of alts. TONS to where I have many spread characters on different servers leveling from the ground up. That I get a basic understanding of those classes to a degree from the job quests implemented from SE.

    That alone should be enough.

Even as someone who didn't skip, a hall of veterans would be very welcome.
