Yeah, but I haven't received that impression as much as far as etiquette goes. Fast clears seems to trump fun from what I've experienced (which is nice if fast clears is something one finds fun I suppose)
Thanks for helping make the FFXIV community a fun and welcoming place. If you're not sure you have (and you very likely have), make it a point to be patient or helpful the next time you log in so that you can know you've made a difference.
If you're on the Aether data center, congratulations! I might be your nextexciting adventurehealer in the Duty Finder. Please look forward to it.

I pulled more as sch once, and tanked it just fine using my sheilds, but a tank still got mad at me, even though we didn't wipe. Not all like the "You pull it, you tank it" rule I guess.

Duty Finder Roulette Etiquette
1. Doesn't exist.
There. With so many colorful personalities playing this game, it's sad that there isn't a solid consensus on this. That's just my opinion, but etiquette just doesn't exist in this game. Do a quick search on the forum and some of the most basic concepts (that SE spells out to us mind you) have like 30-50+ pages of nothing but bickering and passive aggressiveness.
If the Healer can handle being beat on for a while, I'll usually peel off them. At that point, it's pointless not to. I will also ask that others not pull for me. I actually haven't had this issue in ages here, though. When I pull slow, it's almost always due to my first time in the dungeon or not having played that particular tank in a while and I'm getting my bearings before going all out. And in either of those cases, if the Healer asks for bigger pulls, I'll almost certainly do so.But what if a healer pulls, and nobody dies because the healer can manage? I've done this a few times when mobs hit like a wet noodle, but the tank refuses to pull more than one pack at a time.
I don't extra pull if I know it would kill someone though.
I think that if you're not pulling the full amount that you can reasonably manage, you're not doing your role fully as a tank.
Just like if you can't heal the tank despite the tank using CDs, due to not using all your abilities and mana management, you're not doing your full job as a healer.
And just like if a dps doesn't use AoE abilities when there's multiple mobs, you're not doing your full job as a dps.
Theres a bit more to tanking than just pulling some mobs and keeping aggro on them.
I've been tanking for years. I love it. I love running in, pulling everything and their dogs and laughing maniacally as 50+ baddies beat on me. Sometimes, I'm out of practice or I'm not sure of the abilities the enemy uses; in these cases I'll pull a little slower at first.
Wrong. Etiquette does exist. I rarely encounter someone rude in DF. I would even say that 99% of DFs I do are polite, friendly, or at least passive/quiet people. I love dungeon crawling. I just wish I still had the time to do it all the time.Duty Finder Roulette Etiquette

My OP says the list is just based on the impressions I've received from others in FFXIV community, not that it is official or universal on all data centers or servers, etc.
And the fact that people talk a lot about what people should or shouldn't do is part of making this thread. I definitely see different "camps" or schools of thought on how best to approach the DF.

Fair enough. A bit more cynicism slipped through than I would like, but time and time again I just lose hope in topics such as this. Even if it's just something as simple as impressions, arguments will start in this very thread. Give it time.My OP says the list is just based on the impressions I've received from others in FFXIV community, not that it is official or universal on all data centers or servers, etc.

As healer I follow the tanks lead,
You get one ' free ' pull , everyone makes mistakes after all.
After that..... well you are on your own.
If you are a special snowflake , make your own party for party-finder.
