Do you really not see how hamstrung a game's market and economy is when 95% of what you can make has no value to other people because they can make it too?I don't think players should be punished for the actions of bots and one of FF14's main features has always been the ability to play every class on one character. Bots could make multiple characters to access all crafts far more easily than players can.
I'll never get the obsession with specialists. "Hey, could we have a system that gimps 5 of everyone's crafters? That'd be so fun! I hate being self sufficient."
You know.
One of the factors for this thread?

While I do somewhat agree even if I was never a huge fan of Specialists. A bigger issue is how easy the recipes have become, and how overpowered certainly abilities are. You can craft every single item in the game without overmelding anything beyond grade IV materia. If you actually use VIII's in your guaranteed slots, you don't even need to overmeld much, period. And you'll have a near guaranteed HQ rate. Before Shadowbringers, and especially back in Heavensward, it took some serious melding to reach guaranteed macro status. I don't recall if it was even possible in Heavensward as I think people still manually input the finishing touches.
So really, it's a contribution of everything that made crafting steadily lose value to the state it's in now.
"Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters."
"The silence is your answer."
No I don't.
The economy for high end non-specialist items was fine before ShB, although beginning to decline in 4.2 onwards. The reason being that crafting was and is now, miles too easy at the high end. I'd rather the endgame economy was kept running by making endgame crafting something you work for, rather than putting 5 of my crafters off-limits. The current system where it's a small bonus is fine for me.
