"Byregot's Blessing successrate got bumped to 100% for example"
"We believe there are a lot of players that have leveld and geared their crafters/gatherers, but have no idea on what they are doing "Someone please give me a macro" and that is okay of course, but we simplified it so more people might be able to enjoy and understand crafting/gathering better"
"5.1 will have the first adjustments, there will be more in 5.2"
"We are working on high difficulty crafting recipes as well"
"I touched on this before, desynth will be a 100%"
"Most of the time unnecessary gear was just handed in at the GC, with making desynth. easier there is another option now, that might even give you rare items you can sell"

Seems like a fair few changes.

Also something about a sub command opening a Raw material List showing everything you need for crafting an item.

Interesting. I assume they greyed out like 60% of the crafting abilities because the amount of skills confused a lot of new players, or was overwhelming for them. Which, I can understand, I don’t mind changes for new players. I just have a problem with making endgame easier.

Now, about the byregots blessing being buffed up to 100% + “We are working on High difficulty crafting recipes”. Think about it for a second. If they buffed it to 100%, that must mean the nerfs they are adding + the difficult recipes they’re adding, are really formidable. Because I doubt they buffed prudent and especially delicate synthesis if they buffed byregots up so much.

I imagine they didn’t mention the crafting nerfs in this live letter because they didn’t want people to get upset, so I assume we will see them a day before the patch online.

Also, the material list is something I saw coming, wasn’t surprised by that at all since they want newer players to feel at ease. Anyways, when do you think the new difficult recipes will be added? 5.1? 5.11? or 5.2?

I'm kind of glad they're putting off the ranking system until a future update, though I'm honestly hoping they decide against going through with it at all.

Having the legit crafters waging a battle against each other and the botters with exclusive rewards on the line has potential to cause some serious unrest in the community; moreso if they continue to fail to enforce the latter.

A tiered reward system that just gives you the best prizes for contributing a certain minimum amount of items/collectability to the restoration effort within a certain timeframe would be more fair for everyone and avoid that issue. They can just make that minimum absurdly high if they want the rewards to be uncommon.

I imagine some of the greyed out abilities are because of reworks, replacements or cross-class abilities being converted, rather than just deleting the bulk of the toolkit. For example Brygots is greyed out, but we know that's staying. One of the crossed out abilities looks like Name of the Wind which is long gone and Careful Synth is both there and greyed out. A good number of abilities aren't even on his bars. Things like Careful Synth II, Masters Mend II and such could simply be merged into one ability.

In other words I wouldn't panic based on that image. But it does hint they'll be making a good few reworks.

As long as prudent touch and delicate synthesis got nerfed somehow and/or HQ is not always guaranteed endgame, then mission accomplished with this thread.

I wonder if Reuse and/or Reclaim will be tweaked too, considering they seem to be doing a full sweep over all the abilities. I'd be rather surprised it wasn't.

If you look, one that is also greyed out is one we use a lot in Comfort Zone. I also see Manipulation grey, but haven't really used that since SB with Manipulation II. With Comfort Zone missing CP could become even more of a premium. Other Cross cross actions frequently used I don't see as usable are Muscle Memory and Piece by Piece. These two got the max added of 1000 in 5.0 and it would strange to see both gone.

I also don't see any of the new ShB actions in the screenshot either. Seeing Master's Mend and Master's Mend II greyed out, it appears these have been combined. I know when I was CP starved Master's Mend would sometimes be all I could use in leveling.

Don't take much from it, that looks like hotbar stuff from an old demo build or something; Byregot's Brow, and Wind Element, both of which were removed. So don't take those greyed out literally. Besides, if they have removed or reworked the cross class system then those will be greyed out anyway. Not really much to take from the screenshot.

All I know for certain is that since they acknowledged that HQ’ing endgame recipes is too easy, they will nerf SOMETHING to make it not 100% guaranteed all the time like it is now. Either that, or, somehow, this new crafting revamp will involve SKILL. Also, they will somehow make this to where macro’ing things is NOT OPTIMAL, or is a bad choice to HQ things.

Hasty Touch 1 is cross class, so I know that’s gone. Hasty Touch 2 however, is an ability obtained by all classes at level 61, so, if that move is present/renamed in 5.1, that 99% means that it’ll be an important skill to use in any crafter’s arsenal, in others words, making endgame not so easy. Newer crafters shouldn’t have to worry about it until level 80, so it makes sense.

Either that, or, the difficult recipes will require high melded stats to even be able to craft it properly...and even then, it could still be harder. Either way, it makes it so hardcore crafters and serious competitors efforts are recognized.

This crafting revamp is very exciting. I’m so glad they are finally listening to hardcore and casual players and giving us all what we want. This is how it should be, rather than catering to just one audience. 5.1 will probably have me in love with FFXIV again.

I'm skeptical, but I'm mostly happy about cutting down action bloat and Ishgard housing basically being confirmed. Ishgard being another venue for crafter progression alleviates my concerns from the other side of the fence, as it'll likely be the source of Crafting progression and won't be tuned to difficult extremes.

However, moving on from there, if they then make the actual crafting recipes outside Ishgard more difficult, they have a progression road in place for all crafters through Ishgard. If newer recipes also additionally use materials provided through ishgard, it provides a meaningful route to catch up for all Crafters (Sell the end game material for gil, use gil to meld materia).

Plenty to be excited for, but I'm still in a wait-and-see boat.
