I'd recommend anyone with materia worries to stock up on the mats for Tinctures and Craftmans Cunning Syrup (fairly easy with retainers on the job). Once they pop up starred for Rowena's turn ins, spend an hour or two spamming them. Then repeat this any other days they're starred and you're in the mood.

I farmed more than enough VII's and VIII's to max meld whatever we get in 5.1 weeks ago.

Ok so genuine question here. What would "Crafting (Savage)" even look like? What would you craft? See below for points and address as needed:

Comment: "Let us craft even better gear"
Question: Why? Is this crafting gear or battle gear?
Thought: If youre crafting "even better crafter gear" what are you using that for? Everything can already be macro'd with current script gear. If your thinking about making the crafting savage gear to make comparable crafted savage raid gear I could maybeee see the point, but the game was built around combat, not crafting.

Comment: "Let us craft savage raid equivalent gear"
Thought: What are you planning on doing with it?
Comment: If your planning on raiding with it yourself, cool, dont see and issue implementing something like that into the game as long as its as hard to craft as savage fights are to clear (i.e. prepare to fail the craft a lot). The other side of this is are you planning on selling it on the MB? If yes, I dont see how it would be beneficial (please enlighten me, yes really) because if youre selling it on the MB for the tens of millions of gil it would be worth, the average player wouldnt be able to afford it and the people that could will either 1) already be able to craft it themselves 2) be in a static and have raid gear 3) have someone who (like in my FC/static) would just craft the items for us for free

Not sure if this is coming off as against the idea, because I'm not. I just dont see how something like it could be implemented without ironing out the finer points mentioned above. If I have the wrong idea about how anything above works, please let me know so I can get better. Thanks!

I agree crafting is way too easy and you don't even have to penta meld to get 100%HQ, make specialist great again.

Crafters in particular may currently find that they can easily achieve high quality, and we believe that crafting actions aren’t balanced very well at the moment. We’ll be making overall changes throughout Patch 5.1 and 5.2 to make it worthwhile for players who have put in the effort to optimize the equipment they've prepared.
    Interesting.

I mean, I literally described how to farm a large amount of grade 7 and 8 materia for 0 gil in good time for the patch just 6 posts above you.

If people can't even be bothered to put that effort into their gear, with the method spelled out for them, then they really don't deserve to make HQ endgame items easily.

Thank you. I’m glad Square Enix is finally going back to how things used to be. And yes, just put in the effort, and you’ll be amazed at how fulfilling it is. Lazy players do not deserve to have access to everything and anything, all it takes is dedication.

Is it possible Square Enix listened to and read this thread? (Translating it of course) If that’s the case, this thread did more justice than I thought it did, and I’m very thankful that the developers of FFXIV have actually cared enough to listen. There is absolutely no reason to make end game so easy and unbalanced. That should be for 1 - 69, 70+ should be harder.

Hearing this coming from a character with that name is...ironic, to say in the least.

But in any case, I'm still hoping overmelding is less of a RNG crapshoot if it's going to be mandatory.

That sounds like short hand for them nerfing certain actions to make overmelds more important.
