That's a bad example. In Vanilla WoW a Paladin was always a buffbot. Want to tank? NOPE. Also, you would bring a Shadow priest...not as a DPS, but as a mana battery for the real healers(tm). In Vanilla WoW if you wanted to tank...you played a Warrior. The end. Rolled Druid? Tough luck, you're a healer. Paladin? Nope, buffbot. There's a reason that MMOs as a whole (including WoW) moved away from that model...because it sucked.

In fact, let's be frank: 90% of people who think they're nostalgic for WoW Classic aren't....they're nostalgic for early Wrath (specifically pre-dungeon finder)...where you could be a viable hybrid, FYI.
