I was saying I play on a JP server and there is definitely a housing shortage. GG choosing a low pop server. I play on Tonberry, and regularly update for census on here and there are rarely plots available, and always campers. I know I have it luckier, but high pop is high pop, and the issues are the same. The difference is in the attitudes of the players.

And somehow that makes it so that there's a shortage of houses on every JP server?

You really can't complain about the lack of housing on high pop servers when SE is actively trying to balance server numbers. There are plenty of houses on your data center, free of the hidden timer and at the minimum price. That's miles away from the "housing crisis" that is affecting NA servers.

Your claim regarding the different attitude is quite bold... and unfounded. I'll just point out how there are 32 servers spread across 3 data centers for Japan compared to 24 servers on the North American data centers. That's 34,560 more plots for your side of the pacific ocean. Let that sink in.

I just wish there was a system that didn't get hurt because of High or Low population (so high pop isn't full, and low pop has so many free but could be empty). Someone who's been on a high pop server over the years or just transferred there for friends, or just started should be able to participate with housing (besides just 1 room apartment). I understand working towards it, like gil or even a quest chain (if it was guaranteed or at least a chance for sure like a drop, or heck build the actual house yourself with crafting!), but pure luck based on a system that can be changed due to players nowadays? There's so much work been put into housing and gardening (new items all the time, even the new preview system), and obviously a lot of people love it, I just wish we could all have it, and go back to the housing forum pages asking about housing ideas again instead of so many threads of upset people about the system

Who knows, they might already have a fix or something new in the works FFXIV dev team have done wonders before, and I believe in them

Supposedly there was an interview with kotaku [I don't have the link] where Yoshi explained why they haven't added new wards, which has to do with how the servers themselves are set up, if they add wards to for example Cactuar on Aether, they would need to add wards across all subsequent servers across all of aether. The reason why he's so reluctant to add more wards is because the houses themselves and all wards are not instanced. So if you add across all servers along a data center, you're essentially adding an insane amount of data (as each ward contains 2 zones) which would have adverse effects on the not only the individual server, but the data center. Aether is "technically" the main problem, as like 70% of that entire data center has been congested even before ShB launched and has been for quite some time [Which led to the Balmung purge, that didn't help because the free transfers they gave still kept those players on Aether] only the inside of housing are "instanced"

This "housing crisis" doesn't seem to affect the Japanese servers. As a result, there hasn't been any announcement regarding potential "relief".

Dont forget the Japanese playerbase is ~80% of the active NA plaerbase too.

SIGNIFICANTLY easier to get a house there.

I was just waiting for him to reply to hammer down more facts. But he's obviously left the building with that deleted post
