Wasn't this supposed to be the healer balance patch?
I am confused why all the healers are so imbalanced, when the reason for us not getting a healer in 4 years was so they can balance them??

not so much a balance patch but all of 5.X they will be focusing on healer balance like they did in SB for tank
Lol just what we need, to get continuously get buffed, nerfed and changed during all the cicle patch
In order to more easily balance them, they must first deconstruct them to their base form. Then they can create a 4th healer with all the skills they took away!
It's genius I tell you!
I think their intention was to strip all healers back to a baseline, so that it would be easier to balance them over the 5.x patch cycle.
Giving them all a similar dps rotation, similar oGCD function, etc.
So that it was just a matter of tweaking potencies.
For AST this is certainly the case, but SCH is really missing something like energy drain now.
But why cant they do that in one patchI think their intention was to strip all healers back to a baseline, so that it would be easier to balance them over the 5.x patch cycle.

I mean...the answer is that they probably just don't put in as much effort (thought wise or perhaps literally) on the Healer end of things. I think it's really just that simple. That and they probably don't read much Healer feedback. I mean, the feedback they responded to was primarily Tank and DPS complaints about healers. Like, they 'fixed' SCH taking up too much time waiting for aetherflow, but seemed not to give a kupo about any of the problems Healers actually had with their classes. They were apparently very confused and surprised that people were expecting a new Healer at all. That they were just so focused on balance was probably nothing more than a PR move. One that wasn't even original since they did the exact same excuse in Stormblood, where they messed up almost as bad.
I love healing, and I love FFXIV. That's why I want them to do a better job. It's really that simple from my end.
If we get a new healer in 6.0 it will either be the only viable option or completely useless, then the entire expansion will be patches trying to fix that.
The logic behind the damage changes is really quite simple.I think their intention was to strip all healers back to a baseline, so that it would be easier to balance them over the 5.x patch cycle.

DPS jobs have ramps to their damage. They need to get their full rotations going and interruptions to that is bad.
Healers have to 'interrupt' their dps to heal.
So our DPS is basically 0-100 with 2 buttons. You're either doing the max dps you can or you're not doing any at all. It makes it easier for Healers who are less inclined to DPS to see how easy it is to contribute while making it easier for experienced Healers to keep solid damage up throughout a whole fight.
That's how I see it at least.
Also, I see people complaining about not having an AF dump and not wanting to overheal. The solution is simple. Have an AF charge you want to use? Stop using Adloq and let the Tank take a hit. Honestly never felt I couldn't use all of my AF charges without overhealing.
And I'm pretty happy with getting sub 5% overhealing in dungeons at the moment.
