For what, to punish the entire community for what a bunch of stupid resellers were doing? I'm not against the timer, but at least make it shorter. They implemented the randomness for a reason, they aren't going to change it.
Best bet would be to wait till they open up the Ishguard housing district, people will move there and there will be planty of new spots to try and grab. That's how I got my house, when they added the Shirogane district, I was able to get a small house in the Lavender beds.
I don't recall people asking for a randomized timer that can require upwards of 24 hours of constant spamming or be prone to click macros and botting.
Frankly, I wager many people would rather the old system at this point. Getting 20M is a lot easier than spending your whole day by a placard only to lose to a macro click. Nevertheless, I simple solution would be a loyalty system. You purchase a ticket and check back when the dead approaches. Make it exactly like Jumbo Cactpot. That way you aren't forced to just sit by the house hoping it becomes available in what time you have.
"Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters."
"The silence is your answer."
I recall people complaining in game left and right about the old system, and I even saw it on the forums. People were begging for any change that doesn't allow for people to sell their homes (funny enough they still do), and this is what became of it.I don't recall people asking for a randomized timer that can require upwards of 24 hours of constant spamming or be prone to click macros and botting.

Not that I disagree it should be changed or anything. But the clamoring and out right anger people had for home sellers and people buying up entire wards was and still is real, just less so.
Then this may be a chance to make a louder clamor and have them change the system to be a bit more fair for the average user. I've been to many houses in one day with many other people, and think to myself: "Wow, 7 hours and all I've done is constantly check a board for a house." This isn't a fix by any means, its putting a band-aid over the problem and saying good enough. Its only good for people who have a house who can easily relocate now, and a slap in the face to all of the returners and new players. (Not ranting at you btw, just trying to make a proper statement.)I recall people complaining in game left and right about the old system, and I even saw it on the forums. Please note I never said they didn't complain. Just that the solution provided wasn't what they suggested hence why I worded it that way. Furthermore, people have now mentioned several times how problematic the devs solution has become. Said concerns were all but dismissed. So nothing has actually been solved.I recall people complaining in game left and right about the old system, and I even saw it on the forums. People were actually begging for a random timer. They may not have said how long, but they were asking for it. I know they did because I argued with them plenty of times on what I believed was a better solution. Please note I never said they didn't complain.
