What if they made it so the random timer was anywhere from 1 week to 6 months long. And you only get a limited number of attempts at the placard in a period of time? After a certain amount of views of the placard, it just starts saying "Your eyes are hazy and cannot discern what is on the placard." (and won't show if it's buyable or not). And potentially make it so if you click the placard and get "You cannot discern what is on the placard." enough times within a certain timeframe (make it random though, both the amounts of times and the timeframe), and that should stop it. Since instanced housing won't happen, as SE are being too stubborn about the wards.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

Seems like it'd be easier to just accept that every possible solution anyone could come up with is going to have some unforeseen consequence, resulting in players ending up right back where we are, here, now, where we've always been, complaining about "the housing situation."

There is no magic fix-all solution. Whether it be infrastructure, time/money/resource investment, bots, trolls, re-sellers, big multi-FC groups, solo FCs, 24/7 players, inactive players, on and on and on, literally nothing will ever satisfy every need of both development and community.

You basically have only two options. Complain about how the system currently is. Or complain about how they changed the system.

Houses could be shown with a special easy to discern house place holder and not shown as available until the plot actually shows no house with a purchase icon when the timer expires. That would serve the purpose of not allowing anyone trying to instantly demo and unload a house for sale to someone. There is no reason that the actual purchase icon needs to be shown right away forcing people to stand there clicking the placard for hours.

Just allow purchase the instant the timer has expired without the need for the click bait.

    I unfortunately have to agree.
I personally don't like the housing timer, but the devs are deadset on not being able to snatch + resell houses at a greater price.

The unfortunate truth is that the entire housing system is flawed. Housing at its current state is like pulling teeth.

The solution that some of us were arguing for in the past, reverse auction, has one consequence, and it isn't unforeseen. Its one "issue", which is intentional design: the person who is willing to pay the higher amount wins.

It comes with benefits, of course. Like destroying far more gil from the system, which will eventually lead to lower housing prices. The system fixes itself as it reaches equilibrium.

Bringing this back now that I'm no longer busy with work, and the fact that we have a chance for them to actually address it.

http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ions%21/page29 My comment regarding this is at the bottom, please toss it a like so that we have a better chance of them knowing that this is an issue. And if someone posted something similar before mine, please let me know so I can toss it a like, myself.

A random timer is fine, but they really have to do something about it rewarding people for standing there and clicking something for hours, or using keyboard macros.

I feel like just letting people put their name into a raffle and then giving a random person the house at the end would achieve the same thing, minus having people kill themselves over clicking a placard for 5 hours. It wouldn't completely solve the housing situation, but it seems like it's at least better than the current.
