What do you do with a Blacklist full?

I tried to get a GM response, but was given the generic beep boop reply of "just add the player to your blacklist" and when I didn't close the issue, I got another full of nonsense that had nothing to do with my submitted question on what to do when it's full.

There are many a children in /shout and for hunts/fate spawn call outs, I shouldn't have to keep a whole form of player communication off because some kids are being dumb. There is also NN (to which I also have a thread on but but it is kill) that's so low quality that it's worse than shout. If I were to report them all for racist posting, overly sexual "cute and funny" posting of underage characters, ect- I know for a fact I'd just get the above robotic response.

So, please- what is the solution to people being obnoxious, but you're limited to 200? There is also the case of endless bots spamming the chat, and I blacklist them to not see spam when in an ARR city state. Reporting the hoards of people would be a job that even an accountant would shirk. And when I do report, I doubt any action is honestly taken. Maybe a side note but a GM just shrugs and let's them keep at it.

You know, you could make a separate chat channel where you could filter any form of communication, right?
I have one for party, one for FC, one general and etc

Although GM responses do very often seem generic and robotic, they do take appropriate action. Saying as much is buried in said boilerplate text, and sometimes they do actually talk to you via tell. Just be sure to include precisely who said what, where, and when (including time zone).

As for the limit of 200, by the time you actually get to 200, it should be very safe to just remove the oldest entries (which are the ones at the top).

And I definitely sympathize. As much as the intent is to inform players that blacklist is an OPTION (and a pretty good choice for the mindless advertising spam trying to get people to buy gil), our ability to blacklist others in no way excuses the behavior you describe.

This is a simple mind thing you need to learn to do. Just see some "dumb child" as you see them and just mentally ignore that message and read on to the next one.

I'm on a high pop (Lagacy) server and I almost never see what you explain. shrugs

Also just leave NN. I don't know a single person that says anything good about that.

That's not the point I'm making. I'm talking about people posting/spamming things against the ToS, which is reportable, but there's such a high volume of it that eventually the b-list will hit max, and then what? If 5 people are talking about something racist and I don't want to see it on a specific channel, usually /shout, what then becomes my option if not all of them fit on my black list? I need the channel open to see hunt call outs during a train, and reporting them all would be a strain on GMs as well as myself.

The GM solution is to add to blacklist, always. But over time, that can not be an option.

You delete people from the blacklist and start anew. Who knows how many people in your list even still play the game.

Also, really, don't bother blacklisting spam bots. They're not around for very long, they just get replaced with new ones.

Part of the issue is considering people having fun to be "childish" or bigoted. Keep in mind that a lot people on the internet will do things to get a reaction out of others. Doesn't mean they're children or bigots or anything like that. If they know something irritates you, and you react to it, they will continue to do it. Just pretend they don't exist and move on. Filling up your blacklist with literally everyone who even slightly annoys you is unhealthy.

I stopped blacklisting a long time ago. I used to delete some here and there but it was just a waste of time.

Those bots usually get removed within a day or two and I have rarely ever had them message me more than once. I would much rather save the 200 limit for other players.

I would rather have them keep it the way it is and give me more Glam dressor slots or inventory slots

    I empty it

Joking appart, I don't bother to blacklist anymore, since there is the RMT report option. I've deleted all RMT's and bots names. And considering players behavior... I don't bother to blacklist anyone since they are not that many to deserve a blacklist and it is really rare to meet them twice. "Run-and-forget" during roulette is my motto, I do the run and move on.

The spam emote... I just move another area or ignore them. Toxic comments? I don't really care. I'm more bothered by failed mechanics but it makes no sense to blacklist for that. I do mistakes too.

The GMs actually does look into these things if something against ToS was actually done, however, the offenders does NOT normally get permanent bans with the only exceptions I think being if they are bots or if it is heavily RMT related, but rather only some jail time and a slap on the fingers (warning).

EDIT: First time offenders that is, if people continue being overly toxic after that then they can eventually get permanent bans.
