The Crafting Log is a Overgrown Mess.

The UI is far too cluttered, and the recipes are just dumped in one giant overgrown list.

If would be great if the recipes were organized better, say in easier to follow categories.

Better yet, it would be grand if we had the option to sort the recipes into our own categories. Something like the "favorites" feature but with more customization.

What's wrong with the favorites list, item type filter drop down, completion filter, recent filter, and search?

favorites list: There's no way to remove automatically added items from the list except by first selecting to add them to the list (even though they're already there), then finding them again since they move when you do that, and selecting to remove them. It's an awkward and counterintuitive process for cleaning out your favorites. (That and I wish we had room for more favorites, but that could be a data size issue, so is less annoying than the other complaint which is just bad design.)

item type filter drop down: Annoying that it sets the filter only within a single section. I'd prefer if we could choose an item category once and then move around between different level range groups or even different crafting jobs to see what each has within that category.

completion filter: This one's nice when you're leveling or working on achievements. Is it new?

search: The old version of it was nice, back when you got to do a search while staying on your selected class. Now every time you look up one ingredient, it moves you to a separate search tab just to make you have to scroll through your classes to get back to where you'd just been before you can look up the next ingredient. That's uselessly cumbersome. (It certainly beats not having a search function at all, though, which we put up with for a long time when the game was new.)

others: There's also other types of filtering that would be nice, but which we don't have. When I'm looking to make the next couple sets of gear for my healer, it would be nice to filter for gear that gives a Mind boost so I don't have to scroll through all the gear for other roles to find it. Same with food that boosts CP or whatever...

Overall, I think I'm with DarkDedede on this one. I love the game's crafting system, but the crafting window Interface is clunky.

Oh, that's a good point. It would be nice not to have to choose the item type again every time you switch tabs.

Those are good. However, as the amount of contents grow, so do the needs of the users. A more streamlined and manageable layout would be ever so helpful.

For example, having multiple "favorites lists," where the user could mark certain recipes to appear in certain lists. Currently we only have one "favorites list" per crafting class.

Another potential improvement would be the option to view recipes in a grid layout, similar to the inventory grid layout, instead of the single column list layout. Some lists of recipes are very long, and after five years of using this UI, I could do with less scrolling.

They could also add a search feature, similar to the market board search. Perhaps the user would like to see all the cloth recipes in one list. Would be much easier to do one simple search, instead of having to search through multiple different categories to find them.

At this point the full lists are practically useless. When I want to craft something I have to select the search option and type at least part of the name to get anything resembling a useful selection. Picking things out of the lists sorted only by recipe level is horrible.

For that matter, a crafting queue would be nice. Very often crafts require other crafts first. It'd be helpful to be able to queue these up so I don't have to keep searching them out while following a website with a better interface.
