I always do that, too. And just yesterday, I had a new Hrothgar White Mage in that last Heavensward Level 60 dungeon - this Wall thingy - which, of course, took lots of damage from the mechanic first time (funny I recorded this, but for other purposes^^). I think I healed him (or myself, or even the other Red Mage) in several occassions and he was apparently fine with it while the other RDM did not care even if he was down to like 5% health - one more attack and the wipe was set in stone.
Sometimes we both healed - he himself and I with my "Erzvitas" (Vercures). He was some light-hearted and talkative guy and probably just interested in a good run, not in some sort of e-pen measuring.
WHM self heals and I assist
Funny thing I was saying exactly the same thing in a positive way ("I assisted you with some Vercures") but he was very happy and "Byeeeed" me (the others left immediately).
Got a "Best Player" vote, too, probably from him. So yeah: Not everyone takes it as offense despite it was a close call often, but this handsome fella was particular great to play with.
I think every healer with a bit of a brain notices when things get chaotic and is glad for any assistance.
As long as it's not accompanied by a snarky comment, I think they [Red Mages] do it out of politeness/friendlyness. If they would want to harm and mock my healing skills when I mess up as Schlar, they would let themselves flat out die, because this is the ultimate "diss" in that matter.
[I let the names in the pictures as it was great and succesfull fun run!]
