[SPOILERS] On the persistence of vision post-MSQ

Unless it's buried in the really long thread on revelations, I haven't seen one on this. So, at the end of the battle with Emit/Hades, we see Amaurot as it really is now, just a wrecked, decaying, skeletal city.

So why, when we go there post msq, do we see it as Emet created it? I know it may be for "reasons having to do with the optional dungeon", but we've seen other areas in the game physically change due to our actions, and the change persists. So why not there?

One thought I had is maybe we see it as it really is from the height we're at after the battle, above the influence of Emet's magic, and that what we see from ground level may fade over time without him to sustain it. But even that seems kinda hand-wavy at this point.

this was covered in another thread somewhere dont rem where but they basically said that its because the wrecked city we see i in there is not the one from the overworld since what we see there is the amaurotine from the dungeon (which is wrecked) inside that hall that emet brings us into where it shows the destroyed city.

it's one of two things: either emet-selch's enchantments are going to last a while even after his death, or simple gameplay/story segregation where the 'restored' amaurot technically doesn't exist after the MSQ but they didn't want to change the entire zone after you finish it (since there are a few aethercurrent quests you can choose to not do before finishing the MSQ that wouldn't make much sense if you did them while the city is a ruin)

From what I remember, in the game they make a point of mentioning that the recreated city is fading or has faded after we defeated Emet. Also that the bubble that Bismarck created was gone as well. However we can go back to it due to gameplay/story segregation.

So it appears to be working on Crystal Tower rules. You can finish the MSQ without it, but also see G'raha for the first time... bless his gentle soul.

the bubble of bismark is still there as shown in the sidequest that leads to the acadamy dungeon it even says there that the bubble is starting to fade but is not gone yet.

Well, I'm thinking of the Doman Enclave in particular (and soon Ishguard maybe), where different players see it in different stages of change depending on how much they contributed to it. If you've finished all the quests there and got all the aether currents, they could "throw a switch" so the city fades or disappears for you.

Both the City and the Bubble will fade in time, which essentially means whenever the devs stop sending you there for quests and/or after the last xpac of the game.
