All of Aether closed down

My brother has been watching me play Shadowbringers and is really interested in playing, he got all the stuff down to play, created his character but when he tried to create a character on my server (Cactuar), it was closed. I can only assume its because of ShB and a lot of people are playing, so maybe he could go on another one and use the cross-world to play together so far, but that's not even possible? A whole data center being closed down sounds like a very bad idea, I'm sure he is not the only one who has people to play with, and he can't even play "half-off" by going to another server, he would have to go to a different data center entirely and give up on basically everything about playing together, Is there even a way around it? seems very bad to have it all closed.

Seems to me that's not acceptable they really should add another server to Aether.

The invite a friend campaign is sort of busted since you literally can invite someone to buy the game and then THEY CAN'T PLAY WITH YOU AT ALL. Not the best 1st impression to give a friend you're trying to talk into playing the game. On the plus side, locked character creation means I'm seeing less Ajkda Mkjjrysd "characters in Uldah & Lim Lom.

Seems that when the DC split occurred, it scared a lot of people to changing to Aether servers, mainly because "CRYSTAL WILL BE THE RP SERVER, AND WE WON'T BE ABLE TO RAID ANYMORE!!!". You know, because there weren't players on Crystal servers that raid, as clearly evidenced by the present state of Aether. Can't even login without a queue anymore, which never happened before the fact. There were other factors too, but that seems to be a big one.

I'm really not surprised, all the raiders all jumped around to stay on Aether rather than be willing to split into 2 DCs and form new groups. NA has (I've heard at least) the largest raiding community; and as Balmung showed: with a large population, comes lock downs.

it depends on the time of day you create sometimes they can all be full sometimes they wont be available at all.

They can't, no matter the time of day. Congested or not, all of Aether has 'No Character Creation Allowed' marked. It's unfortunate and they should be kicking all the bots out and allowing for SOME creation...dumb bots taking up precious space...

Unless they're congested, every other server opens up for character creation at less activity times. The server status screen only updates at certain hours, hence why they are always closed when people go there.

$18 will solve your issue. Just pick a sever on Crystal and transfer there.

I did that last week. So far all those RPers and fursuit-players or whatever they’re supposed to be in sone folk’s imaginations... have not given me cooties... and my results in PUGs haven’t been different... so, I guess it’s not all that bad here with the freaks

The one thing that did change is my usual login queue went from 3000 to 42...
