    [SPOILERS] Theories on Eden?

Obviously we haven't actually started the Eden raid series yet so we don't know exactly is this mysterious being, but what are your theories as of present of what Eden is and it's implications?

We can see within the final boss of Akademia Anyder that FFXIV has reintroduced the concept of the Guardian Force, which appears to be some sort of defensive "primal" summoned by the Ancients. Considering that Eden is the most powerful of the GFs in FF8, then it would be presumed Eden would have been summoned similar to Zodiark/Hydaelyn as some sort of defensive force. But at that point how did it manage to survive the Calamity and the Flood? Moreover, we know that the Eden raid series will be about bringing life back to the First through the power of Eden. Sound familiar? That's what Zodiark did after the calamity! As such, is there some sort of relation between Eden and Zodiark somehow or is it another creation by the Ancients to restore life?

    Post your theories below!

Considering the location of the raid, it's quite possible that Eden might be the source of Sin Eaters, possibly even the Flood itself. I do like your theory of Eden being similar to a GF, and I feel that's compatible with being the source of Sin Eaters, too. After all, all we know about Sin Eaters is that they just randomly came out of the wasteland one day.

Perhaps Eden manifested itself with the imbalance of Light, causing the flood? The flood could have very well been its own form of tempering, trying to convert the shard into an environment more suited to a pure Light primal, or possibly it feeding itself with aether. Then when Minfilia stopped the flood, it parked itself close by and created the Lightwardens to invade Norvrandt, hence why it took about a decade after the flood for Sin Eaters to even appear.

With that in mind, the Sin Eater threat, and the rejoining itself, would not be completely gone until Eden is dealt with. Considering Yoshi said the raid would be more tied in with the main story this time, that isn't a farfetched idea.

Given its name and location, Eden more or less has to be about restoring life to the Empty.
    Possibly the Thirteenth as well.

A somewhat wilder theory: look at the marketing slides for the Gaia NPC involved with the raid. Then do a Google Image Search on Igeoyrhm.
My theory is that another fragment of a certain somebody's soul is trying to make amends for a previous world-destroying oopsie. Or, you know, wait until the 12th fight and then attack us.

It was stated in pre-release material that the Eden raid series would indeed be about restoring life to the Empty. The fact Thancred and Ryne were talking about "reclaiming" the world (or something like that) instead of just saving it makes it even more obvious.

That said, I wouldn't bank on Gaia and Igeyorhm having some kind of connection. The only thing they have in common is the blue hair which, while unusual, is not altogether a defining trait in this game (see Mide Hotogo, Kai-Shirr, etc). That does leave the question of who Gaia is, but I'm fine with her remaining an enigma for one more day.

So it's not a theory, but I realized tonight that Eden will be the first 8-man series without Cid. Kind of a bummer.

Would be hilarious if one of the NPC's in the raid is a white haired engineer from the first named Sid.

Actually second. Cid was not involved with Coil, he was busy with Crystal Tower.

I'm very interested to see how this restoration will work. I somehow doubt that this will give us new zones...

Now that I think about it, it's highly unlikely that Cid would be involved in ANY of the side content this time... if the hints about the
robot graveyard in kholusia being a tie-in for Yorha: Dark Apocalypse are to be followed on

Assuming Eden is somehow connect to the geographical point of origine of the Flood, it would explain the 10 years of waiting. Because it would obviously has spawned at the other side of the planet. Ive also been, wondering why the flood originated at a specific point and not everywhere at once. That would explain it
