    2) All we know of the Black Rose deployment is that Garlemald deployed it. Not anyone within specifically. Varis was also getting ready to deploy Black Rose himself, it was part of the discussion that him and Elidibus were having before Zenos crashed in on the party upset with the fact that Varis was even getting such a weapon ready. This means that anyone could have used it provided they had access to it and a reason to use it. Even Elidibus possessing a Garlean Legatus.
    3) Emet-Selche made it clear that just getting rid of the lightwardens was not enough. With 90% of the planet tilted massively into the light does taking down a few lightwardens really do anything? It solves an immediate problem, that of the Flood being resumed but does not solve the fact the planet is still so full of light that it is set for rejoining.
    4) There is no way for the Eorzean Alliance and Doman Alliance to be able to take on the full might of the empire and their airship fleets if Garlemald is unified. However if Garlemald is breaking down into civil war then it becomes easy for them to push in and trigger a panic deployment. Of the future after the deployment of Black Rose everyone starts turning on each other because no only are people dying to the weapon but the very land itself. Causing everyone to have to fight to survive and leading to every nation breaking down into ever smaller communities.

Unfortunately, we already know Elidibus wants to pit us against other Warriors of Light... so I can totally see him messing around with previous WoLs in some way.

Without the Everlasting Light, I don't think it is Rejoining ready. And we already started restoring earth and water to the Empty.

Will write proper replies later, but just now it occurred to me that G'raha's expectations for the outcome of his time travel activities are consistent with a "late split" that happens during the events of 5.0, not back in 3.X/4.X when he time-traveled to the past.

He thinks he will be erased from existence once we have successfully avoided the bad timeline.

Therefore current events would still be part of the path that could lead to the bad timeline.

Arriving on the First was not the point at which the bad future was prevented.

Or since he's merged himself with the crystal tower he had become immune to the change of time itself and has become a paradox since he cant go back to the future.

Sometimes even in theories of time travel the changes wont hit the person until they go or try to go back to when they came from. (Now it's odd that it happens but yeah)

Btw have I told you guys yet that I have a love hate relationship with time travel?

Edit 2: I swear in the next two days I'm just going to run the eden titan run and just let my self be hit with landslides for a tiny bit of sanity!!!

I think the reason Zenos' revival is not talked about a lot is because it was inevitable.
Just to bring it full circle, this is pretty much it.

We all knew it was going to happen. The real meat is what happens as a result of this event (which we won't see for quite some time). Zenos was given the rundown by Elidibus, so not only does he have his DIY-Echo, he knows more than he did when dealing with Shinryu. This is troubling - not because he's a sociopathic psycho who intends to rule the world, but the contrary - a sociopathic psycho who couldn't give a damn about ANYTHING like that.

The worst part is: despite the fact he branded Black Rose as a cowardly weapon unfit for his goals, we all know that Zenos is actually the type of person who WOULD casually use it IF it brought out his prey. There's no way the BR angle was teased just to fade away, and I can't think of a person better suited to being a diabolical menace in its application than Zenos. Even Varis or the Empire would have had some sort of predictable goal for it, Zenos... not so much.

To me, this will lead (one way or another) to a reforging of the empire. Or its full-on demise. Zenos has no care for it, so unless Gaius is used as a plot device to make Zenos seem super-nasty (ie. by killing Gaius to make it seem like this is srs bsns), then it'll either be Zenos running the Empire into the ground until even they're sick of him, or the rubble of the Empire goes to someone like Gaius, who may (or may not) have a slightly more peaceable approach to the Alliance after all these shenanigans.

Regardless of how it turns out, I'm excited to see how it goes... But yes, it is still pale compared to the events of ShB purely because this lead-up was (for the most part) predictably inevitable.

(I wanted to make it clear that I am just speculating too, hopefully none take my posts as me believing that those are facts - just wanted to point that out)

Also this is probably still a bit off topic but I found another point which could hint that we changed the bad future already.

Before Shadowbringers the old Mol Au Ra talked about us having a shadow hanging over us (dont know the specific words anymore). Some believed that this was a hint that we will turn to darkness. But now after 5.0 I believe that this might have hinted at something else.

What is big enough to leave a shadow over us? Well maybe the coming death of us! Nothing could be worse than for us to die.

And now that 5.0 is over she has updated dialogue. She is happy that our Light shines brightly again and strangely even brighter than before. The last part seems to hint at Ardbert rejoining with us but for the first part it seems that something must have changed to last time. And well what would better fit with us shining brigthly again then us having changed our fate and death not looming in the near future. And with us changing that we also changed the bad future because we would need to die there to make that one happen.

That fits with what I've been saying though. Up until we changed the situation on the First, we were still on track to the bad future after G'raha started to meddle with the timeline. Just being there and starting to change things* wasn't enough to alter the final outcome.

    * for the wibbly-wobbly stable-time-loop variety of "change" where the time-traveler's actions were actually always part of the timeline.

Or she would have already seen a change after we went on the first but because we did stay there in the story itself she never got the chance to tell us (or even see us) and thus it was only done after 5.0. Of course it could always meant that we could have died on the first too or changed into a Lightwarden but that would have changed the future too because we would not be on the source and died to the weapon. Anyways no matter when we changed it on the travel, seemingly its changed now. (Or its only fluff text and I am reading way too much into that :'D)

    Time travel I hate you!

(In the end our character can never die in this game because of it being an MMO so this means that whatever we will see that it wont be the bad future. Of course theoretically they could use black rose in some ways but not in the part where it destroys the source. Otherwise it would become a strange story to tell - but still enjoying the discussion about this)

You know, I keep seeing this, and personally, I just do not agree with it. Between the soul fractions and the concept that people can exist in sundered and unsundered states, There are enough plot tools available to arrange the WoL’s “death” and yet keep the player character around, should the plot go in that direction.

I don’t think it is quite as insurmountable as people would think, indeed, it might even be needed if future plots are going to be made.
